ALFRED – Three Biddeford men have been charged in a break-in in which marijuana was stolen from an outdoor storage locker at the former York County Jail.
York County deputies were notified last week that burglaries had taken place at the old jail, where marijuana was stored in an evidence locker. The locker was outside the jail but inside a security fence topped with barbed wire.
Charged with burglary were Kevin Petit, 25, and Todd Hanson, 36. Charged with conspiracy to commit burglary was Roger Goudreau, 42.
Authorities had no estimate of how much marijuana was taken, but Sgt. Michael Hayes said much of the missing marijuana had been recovered.
Goudreau, who has been incarcerated at York County Jail since April on unrelated charges, is believed to have provided information to Hanson and Petit, who allegedly broke into the storage locker late on Aug. 26 or early on Aug. 27, authorities said.
The burglaries angered Sheriff Maurice Ouellette, who was on vacation when the incident took place. “It won’t happen again,” said Ouellette.
