Pro-life group to honor three Maine activists

AUGUSTA – Three northern Maine activists will be honored by the Pro Life Education Association at its annual awards brunch Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Senator Inn.

Barbara Curtis of Waterford, Va., will be the guest speaker. A Montessori teacher and the mother of 12 children, she is the author of “Reaching the Left from the Right: Talking About Social Issues With People Who Don’t Think Like You.”

An anti-war organizer during the 1960s who considered herself a radical feminist and abortion rights activist, Curtis is expected to tell the story of how God rescued her from a life of drugs and promiscuity.

The Maine residents who will be honored are:

. Carla Bansley of Ellsworth, state director of Concerned Women for America of Maine.

. The Rev. Robert Emrich of Plymouth, director of the Maine Jeremiah Project.

. Dale Voisine of Fort Kent, immediate past state deputy of the Maine Knights of Columbus.

For more information on the event, call Pat Truman, 622-6772.
