Grant sparks SAHS to win Katahdin girls blank Hodgdon

WOODLAND – Kim Grant scored the winning goal with 12:13 left in regulation to lift the Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Woodland Wednesday.

Liz Goodall netted the first goal for Southern Aroostook at 29:36 in the second half. Emily Cummings made 7 saves on 11 shots for the 4-1 Warriors.

Julia Nicholas scored for Woodland in the first half. Cynthia Bergin made 14 saves on 20 shots for the 3-2 Dragons.

Katahdin 2, Hodgdon 0

At Stacyville, Melissa Duffy scored two first-half goals as the Cougars remained undefeated.

Mary Jo Robinson assisted on both goals for 5-0 Katahdin.

Kayla Stevens earned the shutout in goal, making four saves on seven shots.

Emilay Jurson and Jillian London combined to make eight saves on 17 shots for 2-6-1 Hodgdon.

Washburn 4, Wisdom 0

At Washburn, Morgan Berube scored two goals to help the Beavers earn their eighth victory.

Lindsey Blackstone and Kelsee McLaughlin also scored for 8-2-1 Washburn.

Neither Meaghan Saucier or Rebecca Campbell was required to make a save for the Beavers, as Wisdom of Saint Agatha managed just one shot.

Deliya Michaud made 12 saves on 24 shots for the 3-6-2 Pioneers.

Rockland 4, Oak Hill 1

At Sabattus, Baillie Boggs scored one goal and assisted on two others to lead the Tigers to their first win of the season.

Hayli Kinney, Kelsey Sirois and Novelle Szandzik added a goal apiece for 1-3 Rockland. Elise Mason dished out two assists and Ali Curtis picked up another. Kayla McGuire had 12 saves on 15 shots.

Ambyr Provost notched an unassisted goal for 2-2 Oak Hill. Maggie Sabine had 16 saves on 20 shots.

Calais 2, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Courtney Hill tallied both goals in leading undefeated Calais past Narraguagus.

Breanna Black assisted on one of Hill’s goals for the 4-0 Blue Devils. Hillary Hollingdale saved all six shots she faced.

Samantha Baker had seven saves on 13 shots for the 0-4-1 Knights.

Lincoln Acad. 2, Camden Hills 1

At Rockport, Haley Peavey scored an unassisted goal with 3:15 remaining in the second overtime to lift Lincoln Academy of Newcastle past Camden Hills.

Mariotti Meyers put the Eagles up 1-0 in the first half with an unassisted tally. Gab Duke later responded for the 1-3 Windjammers, blasting home a Maddy Smeaton pass to tie the match at 1-1.

Alex Donald had eight saves on 16 shots for the Eagles while Kerry Gross stopped five of nine for Camden Hills.

Washington Acad. 6, Shead 0

At East Machias, Bri Nicely scored three goals as Washington Academy shut out Shead of Eastport.

Andi Flannery, Kayla Wood and Joslyn Corey each added a goal for Washington Academy. Flannery grabbed a pair of assists while Corey had one. Irene Lewey stopped all seven shots she faced for the 4-0 Raiders.

Dorothy Pottle made 10 saves on 24 shots for the 0-4 Tigers.

Bangor Christian 4, Schenck 0

At Bangor, Katherine Bragg scored two unassisted goals in the first half to propel Bangor Christian past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Christin Pelletier notched an unassisted goal while Demelza Ramirez scored off a pass from Kelly Robinson for the 4-1 Patriots, who held the 0-4 Wolverines to no shots on goal. Moriah Bach was in goal for BC.

Tricia Hobbs and LeAnn Toothaker combined for nine saves on 33 shots for Schenck.

JV: Bangor Christian 4-0

Boys soccer

Katahdin 6, Hodgdon 1

At Stacyville, Andy Kay netted two goals and tallied an assist to lead Katahdin past Hodgdon.

Tom Anderson, Billy Duffy, Kaleb Gallagher and Marshall Davis each added a goal. Rich Qualey, Davis and Anderson each contributed an assist for Katahdin. Matthew Tarr and Levi Robinson combined to make two saves on four shots for the 3-2 Cougars.

Jamie Ryan scored a goal for Hodgdon on an assist from Chris Harris. Dan McGillicuddy made 15 saves on 33 shots for the 0-6 Hawks.

Easton 3, East Grand 0

At Easton on Tuesday, Bradley Trask scored two goals and assisted on the third as the Bears improved to 10-3.

Trask scored two unassisted goals and assisted on Corey White’s tally. Jeremy Brock made 19 saves on 21 shots.

Abe Brittain made 16 saves on 33 shots for 1-3 East Grand of Danforth.

Calais 5, Woodland 1

At Calais, Ben Pagels tallied three goals as the Blue Devils topped the Dragons.

Nathan O’Neill added a goal and two assists for the Calais, while Jeff Johnston scored a goal and Jeremy Carr had two assists. Dylan Ramsdell made 16 saves on 36 shots for the 3-1 Blue Devils.

Cody Sapier scored for Woodland of an assist from Corey Townsend. Todd Wormell made 18 saves on 23 shots for the 2-2 Dragons.

George Stevens Acad. 3, Orono 2

At Blue Hill, Ryan Kurtz notched a pair of goals to lift George Stevens Academy past Orono.

Steve Ensworth added a goal while Nick Saunders and Adam Groves each had an assist for GSA. Rashaad Frazier made five saves on 13 shots for the 4-0 Eagles.

Lee Hecker and Ian Staples each netted a goal for Orono. Nate Peterson made four saves on 13 shots for the 0-3 Red Riots.

JV: Orono 4-3

Penobscot Valley 2, Lee Acad. 1

At Howland, Derrick Bellevance knocked in the game-winning goal from the back post with 1:08 remaining in regulation to lift Penobscot Valley to victory.

Bellevance, whose goal was unassisted, captured a loose ball that deflected off a Lee Academy defender and slammed it home.

Dylan Thomas scored an unassisted goal 1:20 into the match for the 3-1 Howlers, while Brian Yoon tied it up with 4:00 left in the first for the 0-4 Pandas.

PVHS’ Aaron Aywalt had six saves on seven shots while Lee’s A.J. Harris stopped 23 of 33.

JV: Penobscot Valley 6-1
