Mattson, Overton lift GSA Eagles past MDI

BAR HARBOR – Leah Mattson, Alida Peake and Laura Overton each scored a goal as George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill defeated Mount Desert Island 3-1 in a high school girls soccer match Wednseday.

Stevie Theoharidis posted an assist while Sarah Gunnedal stopped seven of nine shots for the Eagles.

Tessa Irvin netted a goal in the second half for GSA. Elizabeth Sargent made 13 saves on 18 shots for the Trojans.

JV: MDI 2-0

Rockland 4, Mount View 2

At Rockland, Baillie Boggs scored three goals as the Tigers improved their record to 3-4.

Two of Boggs’ goals were unassisted, while the third was assisted by Elsie Mason.

Brittany Ross added Rockland’s fourth goal on a penalty kick.

Caitlin Kupferman scored twice for Mount View of Thorndike, one on a penalty kick and the second on a goal that went in off a Rockland player.

Kayla McGuire made 14 saves on 17 shots for Rockland. Andrea Bryant made nine saves on 15 shots for 2-4-1 Mount View.

Lee 9, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Amanda Gifford racked up four goals as Lee Academy rolled to its seventh victory.

Aarika Ritchie and Brooke Harris had two goals apiece for the 7-0 Pandas while Jessica Arbo added another. Karin Bird saved 11 of 14 shots.

Tricia Hobbs and Leann Toothaker stopped 17 of 26 shots for 0-6 Schenck.

Presque Isle 6, Old Town 2

At Old Town Tuesday, Kayla Legassie scored three goals to lead the Wildcats to victory.

Brittany Bearden netted two goals and Carmen Allen added another for 5-0-2 Presque Isle, Sarah Porter posted three assists. Allisen Donovan and Kelsey Park faced five shots combined and made one save.

Katie Deshane tallied twice for the Coyotes (2-3), and Elise Jordan assisted on the second one. Annie Cashon made nine saves on 25 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 6-0

Searsport 6, PCHS 1

At Guilford, Kayla Garcelon scored a pair of goals and Tianna Faunce had another in the first 101/2 minutes to send Searsport on its way to its fifth win against three losses.

Sara Bradshaw, Paige Bradshaw and Shannon Higgins had the other Searsport goals and Sara Bradshaw also had an assist. Amanda Chaney made nine saves on 10 shots.

Christine Davis scored for 4-2 Piscataquis Community High of Guilford and Jill Martell made 15 saves.

Field hockey

Foxcroft Acad. 4, Hermon 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Sabrina Sharrow scored two goals and Kelsey Boss and Jen Gagnon added one goal each as the Ponies prevailed.

Kayla Clukey, Molly Cyr and Jen Seavey each contributed an assist for 6-1 Foxcroft, which outshot Hermon 56-3.

Renee Maheu made three saves in goal for the Ponies. Carrie Cole made 52 saves for 2-5 Hermon.

JV: Foxcroft 3-0

Dexter 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Jana Kenney scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the match to propel Dexter to its sixth victory of the season.

Kenney’s first goal came on a penalty stroke.

Central’s Rachel Trafton scored the lone goal of the second half.

Ann Conway made 10 saves on 11 shots for 6-1 Dexter. Cara Voisine stopped 13 of 14 shots for 4-3 Central.

JV: Dexter 2-0

Mattanawcook 2, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Brooke Hanscom and Michelle Paul each tallied a goal in the second half to lift Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln past John Bapst.

Hanscom added an assist on Paul’s goal while Sarah French made three saves on six shots for the 5-1 Lynx.

Hillary Laferriere stopped 14 of 18 shots for the 0-7 Crusaders.

Stearns 4, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Adriana Eurich netted two goals and Katie Mills dished out three assists as Stearns of Millinocket blanked Piscataquis Community.

Angela Levesque and Mikaela Rosebush added a goal apiece and Ashley Johnson an assist for the 6-2 Minutemen. Alyssa Beaulieu had three saves on six shots.

Brianna Tweedie stopped 22 of 38 shots for the 0-7 Pirates.

Boys soccer

Machias 3, Washington Acad. 2

At East Machias, Mike Little scored three goals in the second half as Machias erased a two goal deficit and edged rival Washington Academy.

Jacob Stevens contributed an assist for Machias while Justin Weaver made 16 saves on 24 shots for the 5-0-1 Bulldogs.

Joey Hunter notched a pair of unassisted goals for Washington Academy. Josiah Jackson made eight saves on 15 shots for the 4-1 Raiders.

Narraguagus 2, Shead 0

At Harrington, Jesse Worcester tallied a pair of goals to lead Narraguagus past Shead of Eastport.

Nate Best posted an assist for Narraguagus while Brandon Meserve made eight saves on 10 shots for the 2-3-1 Knights.

Nick Vinson stopped 13 of 17 shots for the 2-5 Tigers.

Orono 8, Searsport 0

At Orono, Brian Gracen-Malaue tallied three goals as Orono cruised past Searsport.

Ian Staples had two goals and assisted on two others for the 2-4 Red Riots. Nick Dimoulas and Brandon Paul each had a goal and assist and Paul Ohno added a goal. Nate Peterson stopped all four shots he faced.

Dan Peach stopped 16 of 24 shots for the 0-6 Vikings.

Central 6, Hermon 1

At Hermon on Tuesday, Scott Kelley tallied two goals and Jacob Speed scored one and assisted on another as Central of Corinth prevailed.

Patrick Byers, Ryan Bean and Tyler Speed added a goal apiece for the 4-1-1 Red Devils. Tyler Pineo and Jon Daniel combined for nine saves on 15 shots.

Alex Pederson scored off a pass from Kevin Tarr for 1-4 Hermon. Corey Johnson stopped five of 14 shots.

JV: Hermon 1-0
