BELFAST – A Maine State Police trooper was arrested over the weekend on a charge of reckless use of a firearm.
According to documents at the Waldo County Jail, trooper Mark Coleman of Montville was arrested by state police and booked at the jail at 1 a.m. Saturday. He was later released on $1,000 bail. Coleman was placed on administrative leave without pay after his arrest.
The firearm incident occurred in Waldo County on Friday. State police did not release any details about the incident and referred questions to the state Attorney General’s Office.
Attempts to reach Brian MacMaster, director of investigations for the Attorney General’s Office, which is handling the investigation, were unsuccessful Tuesday.
Coleman works out of Troop D in Thomaston. Conditions of Coleman’s bail require that he have no contact with the individuals involved in the incident or possess any firearms.
