Wildcats shut out Eagles

ELLSWORTH – Steve Carmichael scored the game’s only goal with 7:38 remaining in the first half to lift the Presque Isle boys soccer team to a 1-0 high school victory over Ellsworth Thursday.

Dillon Kingsbury stopped four of eight shots for Presque Isle.

Greg Berry made eight saves on 10 shots for Ellsworth.

JV: Presque Isle 3-2 (OT)

Bangor 4, Waterville 0

At Waterville, Devin Lincoln, Dan Taft, Mack Susi and Cody Cormier scored goals to lead Bangor past Waterville.

Christian Larochelle, Johnny Warren and Jimmy Burns each provided an assist for the 9-0 Rams. Erik Milles blocked six of 12 shots.

Zach Jochem made two saves on nine shots for 5-5 Waterville.

George Stevens 1, Orono 0

At Orono, Adam Groves scored an unassisted first-half goal to lift George Stevens of Blue Hill past Orono.

Rashaad Frazier stopped all three shots he faced for the 9-1 Eagles.

Nate Peterson had five saves on six shots for the 4-5 Red Riots.

MDI 2, Bucksport 0

At Bar Harbor, Ben Young scored one goal and assisted on another by Tarek Deddaki as Mount Desert Island blanked Bucksport.

Ben Cummings assisted on Young’s goal for the 6-1-1 Trojans. John Joseph had four saves on six shots.

Ross Bowden saved 13 of 19 shots for 0-8 Bucksport.

Penobscot Valley 3, Sumner 1

At Howland, the Howlers erupted for three second-half goals after trailing 1-0 at halftime.

Dylan Thompson scored to tie the game five minutes into the half, while Ethan Babineau put 6-2-1 Penobscot Valley ahead to stay soon after. Derrick Bellevance tallied an insurance goal with Charlie Gardner grabbing an assist.

Joe Simmons recorded a first-half goal for 1-8 Sumner of East Sullivan.

Aaron Aywalt had 15 saves on 16 shots for the Howlers and Ralph Tayamora 20 on 24 shots for the Tigers.

Penquis 2, Piscataquis 1

At Milo, Brian Zwicker scored the winning goal off a Jon Portillo assist with 2:10 left in the second half to lift Penquis over Piscataquis of Guilford.

Jerell Arefein scored 3-5-1 Penquis’ first goal off of a Ryan Bailey assist with 10 minutes left in regulation. Richie Russell blocked 15 of 23 shots.

Brian Hackett scored with seven minutes left in the second half for 5-4 Piscataquis. Corbin Shufelt made nine saves on 19 shots.

John Bapst 2, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Casey Hale scored unassisted with 56 seconds left to lift John Bapst of Bangor past Hermon.

Ryan Ladd added an unassisted goal for the 5-4 Crusaders. Ethan Cushman had one save on six shots.

Kevin Tarr had an unassisted second-half goal for 2-6 Hermon. Corey Johnson stopped eight of 15 shots.

JV: Hermon 3-0

Central 1, Dexter 1 (2OT)

At Corinth, Tyler Pineo of Central and Dexter’s Chris Eastman proved inpenetrable in overtime as the teams tied for the second time this season.

Patrick Byers tied the game on a header from a Matt Connolly cross with 33:29 left in the second half for 5-2-2 Central. Pineo blocked 11 of 18 shots.

Rick Stewart scored with 20:16 left in the first half on a Ethan Woodman assist for 7-0-2 Dexter. Eastman turned away 12 of 19 shots.

Old Town 3, Foxcroft 1

At Old Town, Cody Smart scored two goals to lead Old Town past Foxcroft Academy.

Josh Hesseltine had a goal and an assist for the 4-5 Coyotes. Ethan Shanley blocked 11 of 12 shots.

Kim Kim scored 0-10 Foxcroft’s lone goal in the second half. Alex Gray made 25 saves on 31 shots.

Bangor Chr. 2, Schenck 1

At Bangor, Phil Dougherty scored the eventual winning goal with 2:58 left in the first half to lead Bangor Christian past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Wontaek Oh scored 46 seconds into the game for the 8-1-1 Patriots. Sam McLeod turned away 10 of 17 shots.

Aaron Hutchins scored a first-half goal for 2-5-2 Schenck. Lanny Thompson blocked 15 of 27 shots.

Girls soccer

Messalonskee 2, Brewer 1

At Brewer, Katie Grenier scored both goals for Messalonskee of Oakland, including the winner with 1:36 remaining in regulation as the Eagles avenged an earlier loss to Brewer.

Amy Jose assisted Grenier’s first goal three minutes into the game for the 4-6 Eagles. Katie Bingham and Eloise Douglas combined to make 13 saves on 14 shots.

Sarah Risser scored an unassisted goal 12 minutes into the second half for 2-8 Brewer. Carolyn Tuck stopped 15 of 17 shots.

Hampden 1, Lawrence 0

At Hampden, Katie Foster blasted home a Michaela Stephenson pass 10 minutes into the game to lift Hampden Academy past Lawrence of Fairfield.

Michelle Wells had seven saves on 21 shots for the 6-3-1 Broncos.

Jess Poulin blocked nine of 16 shots for 6-4 Lawrence.

Waterville 6, Bangor 0

At Bangor, Stephanie Whitten scored three goals and assisted two others to lift Waterville over Bangor.

Shelby Tuttle and Taylor Frame both had a goal and an assist for the 9-0 Panthers and Jordan Pellerin added a goal. Taylor Hart blocked six of eight shots.

Kortnie Hudgkins made 14 saves on 23 shots for the 6-3 Rams.

George Stevens 3, Orono 0

At Blue Hill, Maddi Park scored a first-half goal and Laura Overton and Roz Brokaw added second-half goals as George Stevens Academy improved to 8-0-1.

Lydia Clapp and Leah Mattson had assists and Kayla Eaton made one save on two shots.

Michelle Georgia and Elizabeth Fox combined for eight saves on 20 shots for the 7-2 Red Riots.

JV: Orono 1-0

Washington Acad. 2, Woodland 0

At East Machias, Kayla Wood scored both goals to lift Washington Academy over Woodland.

Irene Lewey posted her sixth shutout of the season for the Raiders, stopping all four shots she faced.

Cynthia Bergin made 10 saves on 26 shots for Woodland.

Shead 1, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Kirby McPhail scored an unassisted goal with 17:24 left in the second half to lead Shead of Eastport over Narraguagus.

Dorothy Pottle made 16 saves on 18 shots for 3-6 Shead.

Samantha Baker blocked six of nine shots for 1-6-2 Narraguagus.

Bucksport 3, MDI 2

At Bucksport, Cassie Gourley scored a goal and assisted another to lead Bucksport past Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

Keely Sullivan and Meg Lalonde scord for 3-5-1 Bucksport and Gaby Harvey provided an assist. Stephanie Bridges blocked six of nine shots.

Danielle Hutchins scored both goals for the 1-8 Trojans. Elizabeth Sargent made seven saves on 13 shots.

John Bapst 7, Hermon 1

At Bangor, Whitney Sinclair had three goals to lift John Bapst over Hermon.

Kristen Willard added two goals for 6-0-3 John Bapst. Morgan Chasse and Jordan Myerowitz both added a goal. Catherine Lammert provided three assists. Sam Maquillian turned away four of five shots.

Lindsey Allen scored for 2-5-1 Hermon and Megan Hebert blocked 16 of 31 shots.

JV: John Bapst 4-2

Bangor Christian 4, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Katherine Bragg netted two goals as Bangor Christian blanked Schenck.

Christian Pelletier and Demezla Ramirez added a goal apiece for the 7-3 Patriots. Moriah Bach had nine saves on 12 shots.

Tricia Hobbs stopped 11 of 21 shots for 1-8 Schenck.

Dexter 2, Central 2 (2OT)

At Dexter, Alexis Mitchell scored on an assist by Miranda Gove with 10:30 left in the second half to rally Dexter to a tie with Central of Corinth.

Kristi Collins scored two goals for 2-7-1 Central, while Gove scored Dexter’s other goal with 32 seconds left in the first half.

Ashley Richardson made 15 saves on 17 shots for 4-3-2 Dexter. Jana Philbrick made four saves on six shots for Central.

Field hockey

Mt. Blue 1, Bangor 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Mt. Blue of Farmington’s Amanda Deschenes and Hilary Babin of Bangor didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Chelsea Tyler tied the game with about four minutes left in regulation for 4-4-1 Mt. Blue. Deschenes stopped eight of nine shots.

Breianna Tocci scored eight minutes into the game with assists from Molleigh Mahaney and Emily Chick. Babin made 22 saves on 23 shots for 2-6-1 Bangor.

JV: Bangor 2-0

Camden Hills 2, Rockland 0

At Rockport, Amanda Kava scored an unassisted goal halfway through the second half to propel the Windjammers to victory.

Megan Bauer tacked on an insurance goal by converting a penalty stroke with 18 minutes left for 8-1-1 Camden Hills. Dale Winsper stopped all four Rockland shots.

Mekyla Follett had 19 saves on 21 shots for the 2-8 Tigers.
