City girls compete for cowboy on WE

Yeehaw! It’s time to put on your chaps and grab a lasso for WE TV’s latest, “Girl Meets Cowboy.” The show is much like ABC’s “The Bachelor,” but there’s a cheesy comical side to watching city girls experience ranch life that you have to watch at least once.

City girls are put to the test as they compete to win the love of a real-life cowboy. They have to cook, play poker, ride horses, and complete backbreaking ranch chores. The hard work will pay off in the end for one lucky lady who will rope herself a handsome cowboy.

The first episode will introduce you to three friends, Marisa, Tracey and Halle, who are competing alongside Lina, a Russian bombshell, to win one-on-one dates with cowboy Chris. Three friends fighting over the same guy is a bad idea to begin with, so get ready for the drama.

I don’t think Chris is prepared for the tension that four cosmopolitan city girls can bring to a beer-drinking dude accustomed to small-town life on his South Dakota ranch, so things are bound to get interesting.

Tune in at 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, to see what happens on the first two special dates.

Do you have a cowboy or cowgirl of your own? If so, you can submit your wrangler’s picture to the show’s Web site, www.wetv.com, starting Oct. 12 for a chance to win a dude ranch vacation.

If big belt buckles and cowboy hats aren’t for you, there’s plenty of other new material hitting TV this fall.

“Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead” returns to Lifetime at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, with eight new episodes, followed by “America’s Psychic Challenge” at 10 p.m. I’d rather turn off the TV and pick up a book than tune in, but for you supernatural buffs it’s a perfect lineup.

And remember the classic “American Gladiators”? It’s coming back – Hulk Hogan style. The Hulkster is set to host a reinvented version of the show on NBC, according to Reality TV World’s Web site.

The show’s expected to air midseason (later this fall), so stay tuned for dates and times.
