ORONO – Dimitri Anastasiou scored in the 20th minute as the UMaine men’s soccer team won its first conference game of the season, a 2-1 victory over Hartford Wednesday.
Head coach Pat Laughlin earned his 100th career victory, his first in America East.
Jordan Antonucci set up the winning goal, which Anastasiou blasted home from the right side for 3-9-1 UMaine. The Bears’ first goal was deflected in by a Hartford defender. Nemanja Kostic had five saves on 15 shots.
Adu Oswald scored in the 13th minute for 6-4-2 Hartford. Matt Glaeser stopped four of 10 shots.
Saint Joseph’s 2, Emerson 1
At Boston, Lane Hubacz scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead the Monks of Standish to the victory.
Cory Smith had nine saves on 27 shots for 4-8-3 Saint Joseph’s.
Chris Jones scored for 10-6-1 Emerson while Jonas Imbert stopped six of nine shots.
Women’s soccer
Husson 2, Thomas 0
At Bangor, Samantha Homer and Caitlin LaBorne each scored a goal in the first half to spark Husson by Thomas of Waterville.
Tatyana Wolterbeek and Jen Plourde did not face any shots for the 10-6-1 Eagles.
Lindsay Thornton made 10 saves on 31 shots for 8-6-2 Thomas.
Field hockey
Colby 3, St. Joseph’s 0
At Waterville, Mollie Kimmel, Chelsea Rosenheimer and Amy Campbell each netted a goal to lead Colby by Saint Joseph’s of Standish
MaryClaire McGovern and Campbell each grabbed an assist for Colby. Liz Fortaine made three saves for the 4-8 Mules.
Kathleen Simoes made 10 saves for the 8-6 Monks.
Plymouth State 3, So. Maine 1
At Plymouth, N.H., Kristina Conroy scored two first-half goals to propel Plymouth State past Southern Maine of Gorham.
Sarah Warner netted a second half goal for the 8-5 winners while Leah Curtin had three saves on four shots.
Alyson Lumino tallied a first-half goal for the 11-5 Huskies, with Cristina Corson grabbing the assist. Allie Hill blocked 11 of 16 shots.
