Woodcock leads UMF past Husson

BANGOR – Megan Woodcock scored two goals in the second half to lead the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to 2-1 women’s soccer victory over the Husson College Braves Wednesday.

Alyson Pontbriand made five saves on eight shots for 3-0 UMaine-Farmington.

Kiera Dorr scored in the first half for the 1-2 Braves. Meg Taylor made 11 saves on 21 shots.

Thomas 9, Maine Maritime 0

At Waterville, Mary Pratt scored three goals to lead the Thomas College Terriers past Maine Maritime Academy.

Sarah Hopkins scored twice and assisted on three other goals for the 2-2 Terriers. Kendra Pelow and Jenn Sawyer combined to make two saves on two shots.

Jennifer Robbins saved 19 of 28 shots for the 0-3 Mariners.

USM 7, St. Joseph’s 0

At Standish, Amanda Loomis scored the final two goals of the first half to give Southern Maine a 4-0 lead en route to the victory.

Erin Garland added two goals for the 2-1 Huskies and Abbie Leonard, Alicia Salois, and Molly Hagstrom each contributed a goal. Goalies Marcy Ansley, Rachel Kwantz and Jamie Wood were in goal and combined for one save on seven shots.

Kristen Gaudette made seven saves on 13 shots for 0-1 USM.

Volleyball

Dartmouth outlasts Maine

At Orono, Dartmouth reeled off three straight points to break a 12-12 tie and take the fifth and deciding game

Dartmouth took the match 16-30, 30-22, 35-33, 20-30 and 15-12 as Ashley Dean had a match-high 20 kills along with 17 assists to lead the Big Green. Andrea Sea had 13 kills and 10 digs while Jennifer Madsen had 10 kills.

Leah Voss paced Maine with a season-high 19 kills. Claire Poliquin had 15 kills and seven block assists. Cheryl Elliott notched 56 assists and 13 digs and freshman Carmen Gabriel had 18 digs and 12 kills.
