Milo brothers charged with assault in Halloween revenge incident

MILO – Two brothers were charged with assault after they allegedly attacked a young boy who they thought had egged their mother’s home on Halloween night and the two girls who came to the boy’s aid.

Aaron Sawyer, 22, and Avery Sawyer, 32, both of Milo, were each charged with assault in connection with the incident. They are expected to make their initial court appearances on Dec. 17 in 13th District Court.

The brothers had been visiting at their mother’s Clinton Street home when her house was egged on Halloween, according to Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin. He said the pair apparently got angry over the incident, asked around about the culprits and reportedly were told the eggs were thrown by someone wearing camouflage.

Poulin said the pair allegedly grabbed a long metal flashlight and hid in bushes on their mother’s property. The first youngster who walked by the house wearing camouflage allegedly was grabbed and beaten by the men, he said.

Two young girls who witnessed the assault tried to intervene, and both of them were allegedly thrown to the ground by the men, Poulin said. One girl received a large bruise on her chest from the incident, he said.

When neighbor Donald Dillon Jr. came out of his house to investigate, one of the men allegedly raised the flashlight over his head, threatening Dillon, before the pair attempted to pull Dillon to the ground, Poulin said. Dillon collared both men and held them until police arrived, he said.

Neither the children nor Dillon required medical treatment, the police chief said.
