Seeds of Hope opens food pantry in Bangor

Seeds of Hope Food Pantry director Isaac Mann has announced that after the receipt earlier this year of a $2,000 donation from Bangor Federal Credit Union, Seeds of Hope was able to apply “for membership in the Good Shepherd Food Bank.”

By working with that organization, which has facilities in Auburn and Brewer and helps feed the needy throughout Maine, Seeds of Hope “was able to multiply the value” of the Food Pantry’s “food dollars 10 to 15 times, making their once literal food ‘cupboard’ a full-blown pantry,” Mann wrote.

“With the donation” from BFCU and its association with GSFB, “we finally have the resources to reach out to the community,” he added.

“We’re excited to not only better serve our parishioners in need, but our neighbors as well,” which is why the organization is now working “to get the word out that we are here to help.”

Seeds of Hope Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday at Beacon of Hope Church of God, 1612 Ohio St., Bangor, which means those who could benefit from its services can next visit the pantry during those hours on Thursday, Nov. 15.
