Eagles roll to victory Lee hits for 23, Bradford gets 20

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sheraud Lee scored 23 points to lift Husson College of Bangor to a 78-69 men’s college basketball victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in the season-opening UMass Dartmouth Tournament Friday.

Brock Bradford had 20 points and nine assists for the Eagles, and Scott Kissinger added 15 points and nine rebounds.

Kevin Wentworth led WIT with 18 points, and Sherrad Prezzie-Blue scored 11.

Anthony Wingate led the Owls with 12 points.

Robert Taylor added 14 points and seven rebounds for Trinity, and Russ Martin scored 12 points.

Drew Coppenrath led the Huskies of Gorham with 16 points. Phil Broomfield scored 13 points, and Josh Daniels chipped in with 12.

At Waterville, Isaiah Brathwaite had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead Thomas College to victory over Fisher College in the Charlie Ryan Classic.

University of New England beat Unity College 102-35 in the other game of the tournament.

Darrell Alexander had 18 points and four steals for the Terriers. Andrew Duncanson and Michael Burchill both added 15 points and Scott Peters scored 10 points.

Stephen Rice led Fisher with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Louis Williams scored 16 points and Treva Holmes had 12 rebounds.

At Orono, Nicole Tritter scored off assists from Domini Thibeault and Jaclyn Hawkins to break a 2-2 tie at 9:49 in the third period to lead Connecticut to victory over the Black Bears.

Bridget King, Michelle Binning and Hawkins each had a goal and an assist for the 11-2-0 Huskies. Brittany Wilson stopped 31 of 33 shots.

Vanessa Vani scored in the first with assists from Taryn Peacock and Lexie Hoffmeyer for the 1-11-1 Black Bears. Jennie Galic tied it at 2-2 at 9:39 in the third period on assists from Pam Patterson and Robyn Law. Genevieve Turgeon turned away 32 of 36 shots.
