Recalls

The following recalls have been announced:

. About 38,000 Boppy velvet and boa slipcovers, imported by The Boppy Co., because paint on the zippers contains excessive levels of lead, which is hazardous if ingested by young children. Also, the zipper pulls can break, posing a risk of choking.

No injuries have been reported. The slipcovers recalled for choking hazard were sold at discount department stores around the country between July 2006 and September 2007. . About 274,000 Metalux fluorescent shop lights, made in China and distributed by Cooper Lighting Inc., because the light can pose an electric shock hazard to consumers when the two prongs on the plug’s electrical cord are touched simultaneously during installation of the lamp. Cooper Lighting, a division of Cooper Industries, has received six reports of consumers experiencing an electric shock and no reports of serious injuries. The recalled lights, with the model No. 9240, were sold at major home center and hardware stores nationwide from January through October 2007.

. About 54,000 Visual Presenters, sold as Image Presentation Cameras by Epson and distributed by ELMO USA Corp., because improperly installed fluorescent top lights in the presenter can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

No injuries or incidents have been reported. The Visual Presenters, made in Japan by ELMO Co. Ltd., capture images to LCD panels, LCD projectors and TV monitors. The recalled presenters were sold under the ELMO, Epson, Doar Communications, Vtel and Tandberg brand names at Elmo dealers, office supply stores and other retailers nationwide from December 1993 to June 2006.

. About 8,000 flashing pacifiers or two-in-one flashing pacifiers with whistle necklaces, made in China and imported by Sailing (U.S.) International Corp., because the pacifier’s nipple can detach from the base, posing a choking hazard to young children. No injuries have been reported. The pacifiers were sold at stores nationwide during June 2007.

. About 16,000 Baja ATVs, distributed by Baja Motorsports, because they don’t have a tire pressure gauge or flag pole mounting bracket. No injuries have been reported. The ATVs were sold online and at retail outlets ATV dealerships around the country between November 2004 and July 2007.
