BANGOR – The Brewer Wal-Mart is donating $950 to the annual appeal for the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.
“Wal-Mart has provided a lot of support to BAHS in the past, and this current donation will provide a big boost to our fund-raising efforts,” shelter director Dennis Marble said Tuesday. “Yesterday’s storm might serve as a reminder to many that some of us are at risk and without a home or apartment of our own. We had 32 of 33 beds occupied last night, and this at a time of year when it’s getting really cold and the holidays are fast approaching.”
Marble said that Wal-Mart and many area businesses, churches, service organizations and individuals have stepped forward to help the shelter continue to pay its bells and try to aid those who use the agency.
“We are extremely grateful for their support,” Marble said.
