BELFAST – The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department has summoned a Searsport lawyer for indecent conduct after he allegedly exposed himself to a woman in a public place last October.
Peter Mason, 59, of Searsport was issued the summons by the Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday after an investigation. The incident allegedly took place in Winterport on Oct. 17.
Because Mason has extensive professional dealings with the Waldo County District Attorney’s Office as part of his criminal law practice, the case has been referred to the Office of the Attorney General, Assistant Attorney General William Baghdoyan said Thursday.
Baghdoyan said indecent conduct is a Class E crime that carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000. Mason is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Belfast District Court on Dec. 18.
