PORTLAND – Police are looking for a gunman who shot a man in front of the Somali Community Center and then fled on foot.

The Portland Press Herald says the suspect was a black man in his early to mid-20s who was wearing a black hooded jacket and dark pants.

Police say the victim was hit by a single gunshot and was taken to the Maine Medical Center. The incident happened at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Abdiwali Omer, who runs a barber shop, says the victim was a recent Portland High School graduate who came to the community center. Police didn’t release the victim’s identity, and his condition was not available.
