Easton defeats Beavers Brock, Bacon, Trask fuel win

EASTON – Jeremy Brock scored nine points, Sam Bacon put in nine and Brad Trask added six when the Bears outscored the Beavers 23-6 in the third quarter to pull away for a 72-40 boys basketball victory Tuesday night.

Brock finished with 23 points for Easton, Trask netted 17 and Bacon had 12. Nick Flewelling chipped in with 10.

Nick McIntosh paced Washburn with 17 points and Connor Fitzpatrick added eight.

Coby Hutchins scored a game-high 11 points for 1-3 Brewer, while Bill Bissell added eight points and seven rebounds and Nate Carson grabbed nine rebounds.

At Red Barry Gymnasium in Bangor, Allie Clukey scored a game-high 19 points, including eight in the second half as the Rams rallied past the Witches.

The senior guard also went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line, all in the second half. She scored the first basket of the third quarter to cut into Brewer’s 26-22 halftime lead, assisted on a basket by Meagan Doucette to tie the game.

Clukey then got the ball to Stephanie Comstock, who tied it up again after Brewer’s Katie Kenney (17 points) scored. Clukey’s next assist went to Amy Wadleigh, who drained a 3-pointer that put Bangor ahead for good.

The Rams (3-1) had a 43-38 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Amy Hackett chipped in with 14 points for Bangor, six of which came in the fourth quarter. Wadleigh finished with nine, including 4-for-6 at the free-throw line. The Rams hit 13 of their 18 free-throw attempts, which all came in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Sheri Valley and Leah Jackson each added 12 points for the 1-3 Witches, while Meghan McLain had 11. Kenney had a game-high 11 rebounds.

At Millinocket, Rachel Foster led three Shiretowners in double figures with 18 points in the victory over Stearns.

Lainey Herring tossed in 13 points and Vanessa Sanderson 10 for Houlton.
