Tidbits

A sparkling vintage

Considering champagne for New Year’s Eve? Why not give Winterport Winery’s Fancy That a try? Vintner Michael Anderson’s first attempt at a sparkling wine has “a hint of apricot fruit and a golden glow to match.” It’s available at Bangor Wine & Cheese, Natural Living Center, The Corner Store and Swett’s Tire & Auto convenience store in Bangor.

Inn-sider news

The Brooklin Inn is always a warm place to gather, but in the wintertime, it’s even cozier. On New Year’s Eve, the pub will be hoppin’ with free refreshments and noisemakers. The inn will serve dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. New Year’s Day as well. And every winter week, business owners and managers get a two-for-one meal on Wednesdays; Thursdays feature pasta dinner for two plus a bottle of wine for $25; and Fridays in the pub, diners can have all the fresh baked haddock they can eat for $10. For information, call 359-2777.

Glass act

Lose the stem – and let the good times roll – with these wine tumblers from CB2. They’re much less expensive than other models ($1.95-$2.50 each) but equally fun, with their Weeble-Wobble-inspired shape and completely unfussy demeanor. To order, visit www.cb2.com.
