Bard notches winner Van Buren girls rally past Owls

VAN BUREN – Brittney Bard converted a layup with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Van Buren Crusaders to a 39-38 girls basketball victory over Madawaska Monday night.

Van Buren trailed by seven points at the end of the third quarter, but outscored Madawaska 16-8 in the fourth.

Jennifer Ouellette led the Crusaders with 14 points.

Kallie Pelletier netted 18 points to pace Madawaska while Ashley Cyr added 11 for the Owls.
