Blanc tallies two to propel Ponies

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Manuel Blanc scored two goals to lead Foxcroft Academy to a 2-1 schoolboy soccer win over Old Town Wednesday.

Blanc’s second goal of the game, coming on a breakaway courtesy of a Pat Lizotte through ball with 15 minutes left, proved to be the game-winner as Foxcroft Academy improved to 3-4. Blanc also scored in the first half off a Jason Weymouth feed. Matt Hackett made seven saves on 10 shots.

Michael Stoup scored off a Kevin Emerson pass with seven minutes left for 1-5-1 Old Town and Tyler Tracewski made 11 saves on 16 shots.

Brewer 2, Nokomis 1 (OT)

At Newport, Will Prescott netted the game-winner off an assist from Zach Bouzan-Kaloustian.

Francesco Tripputi also scored off an assist from Bouzan-Kaloustian for 4-3-1 Brewer. Mike King stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Justin Paradis scored off an assist from Justin Veazie for 1-6 Nokomis. Mike Jacques stopped 15 of 17 shots.

JV: Nokomis 6-3

DI-Stonington 2, Dexter 1

At Deer Isle, Bennett Gray scored off an assist from Evan Haskell with two minutes left to give Deer Isle-Stonington the win.

Josh Bolton added a goal for the winners, who improve to 3-4-1. Chris Gross faced 20 shots and saved 13 of them.

Jason Clukey added a goal for the 3-4 Tigers. Brian Hersey made nine saves on 12 shots.

George Stevens 2, Searsport 0

At Blue Hill, Jed Garvey provided all the offense with two goals as the Eagles prevailed.

James Friend faced three shots and made one save for 4-5 George Stevens.

Jacob Manner made six saves on 12 shots for the 3-4 Vikings.

Ellsworth 3, Orono 0

At Ellsworth, Seth Mayo and Jensen Rich combined on two goals in the second half as the 5-1-1 Eagles topped the Red Riots.

Mayo scored twice and Rich had an assist on each goal. Joey McErlaine added a goal off an assist from Noah Brown. Chad Smith did not face any Orono shots.

Mike Merritt made six saves on nine shots for the 1-3-2 Riots.

Hermon 1, John Bapst 0

At Hermon, Brandon Robinson’s goal with 16:15 left to play gave the Hermon Hawks a huge win over the previously unbeaten Crusaders.

Robinson got his foot on a dribbler from the right side by Joey Schacht and blew it by the goalie before anyone could deflect the shot. Matt Watson notched his third shutout of the season with seven saves on eight shots for the 4-3-1 Hawks.

Bill Chapman made two saves on six shots for the 6-1 Crusaders.

JV: Hermon 2-0

PVHS 2, Schenck 1 (2OT)

At Howland, Dustin Nicholson’s unassisted goal from 16 yards out to the opposite corner of the net just 1:45 into the second overtime gave the Penobscot Valley Howlers the win.

Jered Michaud scored the first goal of the game on Nicholson’s assist. Lance Pelkey made nine saves on 12 shots for the 5-1-1 Howlers.

Tyler Thompson scored on Chad Nelson’s assist for the 1-4-1 Wolverines. Mike Rossignol saved 12 of 14 shots.

MDI 6, Bucksport 0

At Mount Desert Island, Mike Bucklin knocked in two goals as the Trojans rolled.

Myles Jordan added a goal and assist for 4-0-2 Mount Desert Island. Kollin Drinkert, Kyle Jones and Liam McSweeney added a goal each. Bill Crawford and Adam Thurston combined to save two of three shots.

Trevor Stevens turned away 12 of 20 shots for the 0-7 Golden Bucks.

JV: MDI 5-1

Van Buren 8, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Stacy Ayotte and Kris Masemola each knocked home two goals as the Crusaders blanked the Hornets.

Tyler Hews and Marck Suabato each had a goal and assist for 10-3 Van Buren. Brian Violette and Jeremy Chasse added a goal each, and Sean Violette and Justin Cyr combined to stop all four shots they faced.

Randy Judkins made 10 saves on 23 shots for 4-5-7 Ashland.

Shead 1, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Mike Bernard scored off an assist from Ben Toney as the Tigers of Eastport topped the Knights.

Darrin Constant stopped 13 of 18 shots for 4-1 Shead.

Eric Pelletier made 24 saves on 28 shots for 2-5 Narraguagus.

Field hockey

Old Town 2, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Emelie Richard got the shutout, stopping 12 of 26 shots as the Indians (6-0) remained unbeaten.

Kendall Tracewski and Sarah Metivier scored the goals for the winners.

Julia Sleeper turned away 13 of 18 shots for the 1-6 Crusaders.

JV: Old Town 1-0
