ASHLAND – Whitney Flint poured in a game-high 43 points, including five 3-pointers as Ashland outscored Greater Houlton Christian Academy 23-7 in the third quarter en route to a convincing 80-54 girls basketball victory over the previously unbeaten Eagles Wednesday night.

Flint scored 13 points in the third quarter in which the Hornets broke the game wide open.

Mindy Chasse scored 15 points in the first half, including the 1,000th point of her career for Ashland.

Kari Brewer and Sarah Riopel netted 17 points apiece to lead Greater Houlton Christian.

At Calais, Courtney Hill scored eight points in a one-minute span in the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils rallied for the victory over previously unbeaten Lee Academy.

Hill sparked the late rally with a conventional three-point play, connected on a 3-pointer on Calais’ next possession then sank two free throws with 1:01 left to give the winners a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Hill finished with 15 points and six assists for Calais, which trailed 51-42 entering the fourth quarter.

Kelli Cross scored a game-high 19 points for the Devils, who avenged a 30-point loss to the Pandas, while Nicole Osborne notched 18 points and 11 rebounds.
