Kissinger, Lee lift Husson by UMF

FARMINGTON – Scott Kissinger poured in 26 points to lead the Husson College Eagles to a 79-74 men’s basketball victory over the UMaine-Farmington Beavers Tuesday night.

Sheraud Lee had 20 points for the Eagles and Brock Bradford added 10 points.

Matt St. John paced the Beavers with 17 points. Andrew Dean had 12 points and Isaac Hutchinson scored 10 points.

At Boston, Drew Coppenrath scored a game-high 25 points and the University of Southern Maine outscored UMass-Boston 41-25 in the second half to erase a six-point halftime deficit.

Jamaal Caterina had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Daniels contributed 10 points, six rebounds and five assists for USM.

Amigo Paniagua’s 20 points and seven rebounds and Ernst Jean’s 11 points. 10 rebounds and four blocked shots led UMass Boston.

At Waterville, Derek DiFrederico netted 19 points and Neil Stewart 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Maine Maritime of Castine past Thomas.

Adam Haskell added 10 points for the 7-7 Mariners.

Michael Burchill paced Thomas (5-11) with 17 points.

Women’s basketball

USM 64, UMass Boston 56

At Boston, Angela Santa Fe tallied 15 points to lead the University of Southern Maine past UMass Boston.

Dawn Ross chipped in 10 points for the Huskies of Gorham, who had nine players net at least two points.

Ashley Greene paced UMass Boston with 15 points while Caroline Ashe added 13 and Norma Cumbee 12.

At Farmington, Husson College of Bangor rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to upend UMaine-Farmington.

Shelby Bradford led the Eagles with 26 points and 13 rebounds while Noelle Lincoln contributed 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

Caitlyn Laflin led all scorers with 34 points for UMF. Amanda Byrne chipped in with 12.

At Waterville, Kaitlyn Leeman and Megan Franklin each scored 10 points to lead Maine Maritime Academy of Castine past the Terriers.

Franklin also grabbed nine rebounds for the 8-7 winners while Amethyst Cousins put in nine points and Brittany Hunt added eight.

Amy Miles paced Thomas with 12 points and Mallorie Blakney added eight.
