College Goal Sunday

College Goal Sunday at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, is a free event to provide parents and students of all ages with assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form – required for all state and federal financial aid programs, including loans. In this area, it will be held in Room 501, Rangeley Hall, Sylvan Road.

The event is sponsored by the Finance Authority of Maine in cooperation with Maine Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Maine Educational Opportunity Association.

FAME will provide coaching staff to walk individuals through the FAFSA form and answer any questions about state and federal financial aid programs.

Attendees should bring their most recent tax information. For information, including directions, visit www.collegegoalsundaymaine.com or call FAME at 800-228-3734.

Area legislators encourage families to take advantage of College Goal Sunday.

“Many say they can’t afford to go on to higher education. The truth is that not furthering your education has a greater cost,” said Brewer Rep. Dusty Fisher, a retired educator. “The community colleges and the University of Maine System open a door to better opportunities. There are many ways to obtain funding for that better future through a wide variety of scholarships and organizations like FAME.”
