Martell, Davis lead Piscataquis girls past Howlers Weeks sparks Greenville victory

HOWLAND – Jill Martell and Christina Davis scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the Piscataquis Community Pirates to a 50-45 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Penobscot Valley Howlers Thursday night.

Casey McCloskey netted 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace Penobscot Valley. Kirstie Dawson added 10 points for the Howlers.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Cody Cross scored two goals and assisted on three others as Old Town knocked off Leavitt of Turner.

Jason Smith had two goals and an assist and Ryan Millet a goal and two assists for the Coyotes. Dan Lebretton had 17 saves on 19 shots.

Steven Bouillard and Ryan Urquhart scored for the Hornets. Cody Violette stopped 20 of 25 shots.
