I have finally found it – the definitive line between northern and southern Maine.
I travel from the Bangor area to Portland or Lewiston-Auburn almost every day. The recent storms have made driving on the interstate a challenge to say the least. The road is icy, snow-covered and unplowed. I see numerous vehicles and 18-wheelers off the road and in the median. It’s your basic white-knuckle driving.
That is, until I get to Pittsfield. When I get to Pittsfield the road is suddenly plowed, salted and clear.
So, I want to thank the Maine Department of Transportation for finally defining the exact line between northern and southern Maine. It’s in Pittsfield at mile marker 150.
