Bicycle safety training offered twice in May

AUGUSTA – The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, in cooperation with the Maine Department of Transportation, will offer two free, one-day courses in May to train teachers, police, medical professionals, health educators, parents and volunteers how to most effectively teach bicycle safety.

The bicycle safety instructor training course will take place on May 9 in South Portland and May 16 in Augusta. Both classes are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants must bring a bicycle in good condition and a helmet that fits. Lunch will be provided.

Registration is available at www.bikemaine.org/edu/bsit.htm. Confirmation and details about the location will be sent before the class. For information call 623-4511.
