HAVERHILL, Mass. – Fisher College swept the University of Maine-Farmington 5-2 and 4-3 in a baseball doubleheader Tuesday as the Beavers slipped to 0-4.
Russ Schmeizer paced UMF in the first game with two singles and a double while Tyler Hanson and Kyle Shea each drove in a run.
In the second game, Phineas Peake led UMF with two singles.
Eastern Mennonite sweeps UMPI
At Harrisonburg, Va., Mandee Madden hit three singles and scored three runs as Eastern Mennonite University defeated the University of Maine- Presque Isle 6-2 in the nightcap of their doubleheader.
The Royals took the first game 8-0 in five innings.
In the first game, Madden doubled and singled with two RBIs for Eastern Mennonite. Anna Coleman singled and drove in two runs.
Erica Davis singled twice to lead the Owls.
In the second game, Miranda White hit a double and a single and knocked in two runs for Eastern Mennonite. Nicole Wade and Natasha Viafora combined for seven innings, two unearned runs, one hit, one walk and 12 strikeouts.
Davis doubled for UM-Presque Isle’s only hit and scored a run. Anna Lenentine drove in a run.
