SOUTH PORTLAND – Ryan Pike singled off the center-field fence with two outs in the ninth inning Wednesday to drive in the winning run as the University of Southern Maine defeated Husson College 11-10 in college baseball action.
The Eagles erupted for four runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batsman in the top of the ninth to rally from a four-run deficit.
The Huskies of Gorham won the game in the bottom of the inning when Ryan Gaffney doubled to left field and Pike followed with the game-winning single.
Chris Burleson paced Southern Maine with two doubles, two singles and an RBI. Josh Stowell and Jordan Berthiaume each tallied two hits and two RBIs.
Ethan Guerette, Tom Crews and Andrew Patterson posted three hits apiece for Husson. Logan York, Guerette and Crews each drove in two runs.

Thomas sweeps UM-Farmington
At Bangor, Thomas College of Waterville swept a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader from the University of Maine-Farmington by scores of 10-2 and 6-0.
In the first game, the Terriers broke the game open in the fifth inning with seven runs.
Mike Chamard finished with four hits and two RBIs to lead Thomas. Mike Busa and Jared Fieldsend each had two hits.
Corey Provencher paced UMF with two hits while Andrew Dean drove in two runs.
In the second game, Corey Estes pitched a three-hit shutout.
Sam Shain led the Terriers with three hits and two RBIs. Nick Schauwecker and Chamard added two RBIs apiece.
Tyler Hanson tallied two hits for the Beavers.

At Standish, Wade Oliver had two hits and drove in two runs to help lead Saint Joseph’s College by Colby College of Waterville.
Todd Keneborus tallied two hits and an RBI while Travis Adams posted a hit and an RBI for the Monks.
Ryan Conlon paced Colby with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs.

Boston University sweeps Maine
At Boston, Mass., the University of Maine dropped both games of a doubleheader to Boston University by scores of 5-0 and 8-3.
In the first game, Alexis Souhlaris accounted for Maine’s lone hit, while the Terriers pounded out 13 of them and made a winner of Cassidy Hardy.
In the second game, Ashley Waters hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Souhlaris added a solo home run in the seventh for the Black Bears.
Boston University answered with three runs in the second and fourth innings.
