Bravo announces news on ‘Real Housewives’

It’s like Christmas in the reality TV realm. Not only did a girl finally win “The Biggest Loser,” but one of my favorites from season one of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is coming back to Bravo with her own show.

That’s right, Bravo has announced (through Reality TV World’s Web site) that Jo De La Rosa will be returning to the network, but not without her ex-fiance, Slade Smiley. (His name even sounds slimy.)

In case you don’t remember, Jo was engaged to Slade, who had two children and wanted Jo to give up her own dreams to become an instant stay-at-home mother and wife. After lots of fighting and contemplating, Jo decided she wanted more than that out of life and decided to leave Slade and move to Los Angeles.

Apparently Slade has remained Jo’s manager despite their breakup and in “Date My Ex” it is rumored that he shows the same possessiveness as he did in the Orange County series. That could make things tough for Jo and provide some intense drama as she continues her singing career and looks for love in Los Angeles.

But that’s not all the “Real Housewives” news I have to share.

Bravo also has ordered a season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Hopefully I’ll like the Jersey girls better than the city snobs of New York. In Orange County at least the women made their own money and although they were used to a certain lifestyle, they weren’t catty and petty.

Perhaps I was wrong before. Maybe it’s not all of reality TV that’s gushing with good news, perhaps it’s just Bravo.

In addition to new “Housewives,” we’ll be seeing another season of “Project Runway” this summer and I can’t wait.

New episodes are scheduled to begin airing in July, according to Reality TV World, which isn’t a moment too soon in my opinion.

With the finales of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” “The Biggest Loser,” and “Here Come the Newlyweds,” nighttime television has been seeing some pretty slim pickings the last week or so. Not to mention that “American Idol” remains to be the worst season ever despite what the judges are saying.

So, keep your chin up and your remote control batteries charged. With green grass and barbecues comes better reality TV for all – or at least for Bravo.
