PORTLAND – A Portland police officer who was acquitted of assault five years ago in a police brutality case has made his first court appearance on charges of domestic violence and reckless conduct with a firearm.
Brian Regan maintains that his wife attacked him at their home in Westbrook and that he acted in self-defense. The 14-year police department veteran has been placed on administrative leave with pay.
The court proceedings against Regan have been continued until next month.
