Lubec Consolidated School

LUBEC – Peter Doak, principal of Lubec Consolidated School, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2008.

Timothy Stephen Burns, son of Lawrence Burns Jr. and Brenda Burns of Lubec, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2008. He plans to attend the University of Maine to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

Burns was class treasurer during ninth and 10th grades, vice president during 11th grade and president this year. He participated in student council, civil rights, National Honor Society, and is a member of the CREST organization. He is a volunteer at the After School Program and helps teachers after and during school hours.

Cherie M. Chute, daughter of Craig and Marie Chute of Lubec, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2008. She plans to attend the Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, Wis., to pursue a degree in elementary education.

Chute has been involved in student council, National Honor Society, CREST, civil rights, and the Quoddy Light Yearbook. She has been a class officer all four years, received the 2008 DAR Good Citizenship Award and attended 2007 Girls State. She is a volunteer at the After School Program and participates in activities at the Ridge Baptist Church.

David Ryan Aldrich, son of Susan Aldrich of Lubec, has been named first honor essayist for the Class of 2008. He plans to pursue a career in the emergency medical field.

Aldrich was inducted into the National Honor Society his sophomore year. He is a member of the civil rights team and participated in Big Brothers/Big Sisters program his freshman year.

Ashley Lee Marzoll, daughter of Sheldon and Jody Marzoll of Lubec, has been named second honor essayist for the Class of 2008. She plans to attend Washington County Community College to pursue a degree in medical assisting.

Marzoll has been involved in many school activities and community service. She was manager of the varsity basketball teams for three years and is a member of the ski club. She is the editor of the Quoddy Light Yearbook.
