BANGOR – Ryan Arsenault struck out 11 batters and walked two while pitching a two-hitter as Husson College swept a baseball doubleheader with the University of Maine-Presque Isle, 2-0 and 24-6 on Sunday.

In the first game, Jeff Miller hit two singles and drove in a run for the Eagles and Ethan Guerette added two singles.

Jeffrey Ramsdell and Donald Charrette singled for UM-Presque Isle.

In the second game, Guerette had three singles and two RBIs for Husson. Miller doubled, singled and scored three runs and Dennis Graham scored three runs and singled twice. Aaron Sullivan doubled with two RBIs.

Brandon Boulware had two singles and two RBIs for UM-Presque Isle. Brandon Elie and Donald Charrette each had two singles.

UM-Farmington sweeps UMPI

At Farmington, Andrew Dean allowed just four hits and walked six while striking out five through six innings and Will Griffiths pitched a perfect seventh as the University of Maine-Farmington shut out the University of Maine-Presque Isle 7-0 in Saturday’s second game. The Beavers won the first game 5-2.

In the first game, Tyler Hanson doubled and drove in a run for UM-Farmington and Russ Schmelzer singled twice.

A.J. Pennartz hit a two-run home run in the first inning for UM-Presque Isle and Donald Charette doubled and singled.

In the second game, Schmelzer had two singles and scored two runs for the Beavers. Hanson singled twice (RBI) and Corey Provencher had a double.

At Farmington, Jeremy Gilcris scattered five hits and one walk through seven innings to help Castleton State to the 6-1 win over the University of Maine-Farmington in the first game on Sunday. The Spartans also won the nightcap 5-4.

Saint Joseph’s, Rivier split

At Standish, Ian Lee posted three hits and drove in three runs to spark Saint Joseph’s College by Rivier College 6-0 in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader.

The Monks dropped the first game 10-7.

In the first game, John McMahon had two hits and five RBIs to lead Rivier.

Wade Oliver paced Saint Joseph’s with three hits and two RBIs. Luke Enman hit a three-run home run while Andrew Wood added three hits.

In the second game, Mason Roberge and Andrew Keirstead combined for the seven-hit shutout.

Huskies sweep Plymouth State

At Plymouth, N.H., the University of Southern Maine tagged Plymouth State University pitchers for 31 runs on 32 hits Saturday en route to sweeping a doubleheader 20-5 and 11-2.

In the first game, Ryan Pike had four hits, including a pair of home runs, and four RBIs to lead Southern Maine.

Josh Mackey tallied four hits and drove in three runs while Andrew Stacy had four hits and two RBIs. Ryan Gaffney added three hits and four RBIs for the Huskies.

In the second game, Stacy and Gaffney led the way for USM with two hits and two RBIs apiece. Mike knocked in three runs for the Huskies.

At Waterville Saturday, Ryan Heide pitched a complete game to lead Bates to a 7-2 win in the first game and Spencer Jacobson had two singles and a double to lead Colby to a 9-8 victory in the second game of a doubleheader.

In the second game, Justin Clark worked six innings to earn the win and Ryan Murphy got the save.

Denis Hogan had a double and two singles for the Bobcats of Lewiston.

At Castine, Jake Frank, Joe Greaney and Josh Anderson each scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead Emerson College past Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference playoff action Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

Emerson (4-12) scored five goals in the fourth quarter to pull away.

For the 5-6 Mariners, C.J. Kelley had two goals and three assists. Nate Bolduc of Farmington and Garrett Lake each scored two goals. Patrick Jones made eight saves.

Dean Smollar had 21 saves for the Lions.

Husson sweeps Becker

At Leicester, Mass., Jenny Rollins homered, doubled and singled to drive in five runs and lift Husson College of Bangor over Becker College in Saturday’s first game. The Eagles won the second game 17-4.

In the first game, Caitlin LeBorgne allowed no earned runs, five hits and no walks while striking out 10 for the Eagles. Brittni Adams and Carolyn McAvoy scored three runs apiece.

Danielle Kiertianis tripled and singled to lead Becker.

In the second game, McAvoy hit four doubles and single while driving in three runs for Husson. Dorothy Cameron had a triple, double and single with four RBIs. Megan Bradstreet hit a double and two singles and Cassie Berry doubled and singled with three runs scored.

Alexandra Imtanios doubled and tripled with two RBIs for Becker.

Husson splits with Elms

At Chicopee, Mass., Carolyn McAvoy hit a double and two singles and drove in two runs to help lead Husson College to the 4-3 win over Elms College in Sunday’s first game. Elms defeated Husson 9-8 in the second game.

At Longmeadow, Mass., the University of Maine at Farmington held on to the win Saturday’s first game 4-3 despite two runs scored in the bottom of the seventh by Bay Path College. The Beavers also won the second game 12-1.

Elms sweeps Mariners

At Chicopee, Mass., Saturday, Tammie Tremblay earned a complete-game victory in one game and went 4-for-7 in both games to help lead the offense as Elms College swept a doubleheader with Maine Maritime Academy 4-2 and 8-1.

In the second game, Elms scored five runs in the third inning. Kerrie Bowden, Alison McBride, Tremblay, Tiffany Williams and Andrea Ramsdell each had two hits for Elms.

Ramsdell allowed six hits and one run in seven innings to earn the win.

Hannah Seamans had two singles for the Mariners.

At Gorham, Rachel Denny launched a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs to lead Eastern Connecticut State University to a doubleheader sweep of the University of Southern Maine Saturday.

The Warriors defeated Southern Maine 6-1 in the opener and held on for a 11-8 win in the second game.

In the first game, Katie Pensiero pitched five innings allowing no runs on three hits to earn the win for Eastern Connecticut.

At Gorham, junior Sabrina Sevigny hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning and added a double to lead the University of Southern Maine to the 3-1 victory in Sunday’s second game over Western Connecticut State University. The Colonials shutout the Huskies in the first game 9-0.

In the first game, Stacey DiMaggio hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to pace the Colonials. Meghan Mammone added a double and Brittany Finkelday hit two singles.

Shelby Slie allowed just one hit and struck out 11 to earn the shutout win.

In the second game, Kristina Grondin doubled for the Huskies and Stacey Stuart singled twice.
