East Grand Adventure Race for Teens May 17

High school students interested in a great day of outdoor fun might want to consider taking part in the East Grand Adventure Race for Teens on May 17.

The race will take place in Danforth, and consists of four parts. The first leg is a one-mile bushwhack on Peakaboo Mountain; the second is a seven-mile mountain bike ride on woods roads and trails; the third is a seven-mile canoe trek on Baskahegan River, which is mostly flat water with a couple of easy quick-water sections; the fourth is a climbing wall challenge back at the high school.

All interested high school students are eligible to enter two-person teams.

The entry fee is $30, which includes door prizes, lunch and a T-shirt. Advanced registration is required.

The top three finishing pairs will split $700 in prizes, and more than $1,000 in door prizes will be given out after the race.

The race will be physically challenging, but organizers say it is not beyond the reach of young people who are in reasonably good physical condition.
