Former town official pleads guilty to robbery

PORTLAND – A former Scarborough town councilor faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a bank last month.

Robert Patch, 45, made off with about $4,000 from the Biddeford branch of Maine Bank & Trust on April 9.

Police found the cash and a pellet gun in his vehicle when he was arrested a short time later in Saco.

Patch, who served on the Scarborough Town Council from 2003 to 2006, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
