MILFORD – Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday a man claiming to have a weapon robbed the Mobil on the Run and walked away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Authorities are looking for a 6-foot-tall white male in his 20s, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Detective Tim Jameson said.
The suspect was wearing jeans and a gray hooded sweat shirt with a darker hood that had a white and black rectangle symbol on the back, the detective said.
A female store clerk, who asked not to be identified, said Tuesday afternoon that the robbery occurred while a male clerk was working. The male clerk was threatened with a weapon but did not actually see a weapon, she said, and was shaken by the incident, but not harmed. To her knowledge, the store has never been robbed before.
She added that store policy is to “not to fight” with criminals so no one gets hurt. The store, located at 12 Main St., has about 15 employees and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Surveillance tapes of the robbery are being reviewed and images are expected to be released to local media.
Those who can identify the suspect or who have information are asked to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department at 947-4585.
