Rogers’ hit lifts Calais to victory

CALAIS – Steven Rogers drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the seventh as the Calais Blue Devils rallied for three runs in the seventh to trip Washington Academy of East Machias 8-7 in a high school baseball game Wednesday.

Matt O’Brien doubled and singled to knock in a run while Roman Hall chipped in an RBI single.

Brett Lyons paced the Raiders with a two-run double while Ryan Schoppee had four singles and an RBI and John Hall an RBI single.

At Dyer Brook, Darin Flewelling belted a two-run homer to go with a pair of doubles as Southern Aroostook thumped East Grand of Danforth.

Dillon Boulier had two singles and a double for the winners.

At Machias, Joe Whitney knocked in two runs with a double and a single to back solid pitching by Matt Little (8 strikeouts) as the Bulldogs beat the Tigers.

Mike Jenkins stroked three singles for Machias and Little singled twice.

Timmy Barnes tripled and singled to lead Shead of Eastport, while Tommy Pottle singled twice.

At Pittsfield, Cody Poland and Ben McLain combined for nine hits and eight runs batted in as Lincoln Academy of Newcastle beat Maine Central Institute.

Poland had two doubles and three singles and drove in three runs and McLain had a pair of doubles, two singles and five RBIs.

Dan Wyand had three singles and two RBIs and Peter Brooks drove in two runs with a pair of singles.

Trevor Rowe and Chris Cook had two singles apiece for MCI.

At Rockland, Taylor Williamson scored the winning run in the two-run sixth inning as Medomak Valley of Waldoboro edged Rockland.

Dale Winchenbach hit a double and a single while Isaac Durkee had a double for the Panthers.

Nick Little posted a double and a single while Lucas Morrill had two singles for Rockland.

At Woodland, Eddie Flaherty smacked two doubles and a single to power the Dragons to victory over the Royals.

Ben Sears belted a three-run home run in the fifth inning for Woodland behind winner Jordan Perry.

Losing pitcher Harry Beal hit three singles and Zack Smith singled twice for the Royals.

At East Sullivan, John Matson drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Sumner past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Mickey Manning hit three singles and a double with two RBIs. Matt Boyle posted two singles and an RBI for the Tigers.

Joe Carter hit two singles and a double for the Mariners. Oliver Lawrence had a two-run double while Ethan Pinkham had an RBI single.

At Bucksport, Tim Nason threw six innings of five-hit, one-run ball, striking out five and walking two, as Bucksport topped Mount Desert Island.

Steve Klenowski had three singles for the winners. Derek Fish added two singles and two RBIs and Cam Wentworth had two singles and an RBI.

Calvin Tweedie and Justin Gilmartin had two singles apiece for MDI and Tweedie had the only RBI.

At Machias, Dorothy Pottle laced a three-run triple as the visiting Tigerettes of Eastport triumphed.

Shelby Melanson singled twice to knock in a run for Shead.

Samantha Moody hit a two-run homer while Jordan Ranke had three singles and an RBI for Machias.

At Rockland, Kayla Santheson tossed a six-hitter, striking out 11 and walking two, and Melissa Ambridge drove in three runs with a pair of singles as Medomak Valley of Waldoboro triumphed.

Tessa Dodge hit a two-run homer and also had a single for the winners, Santheson aided her own cause with a double and two singles and an RBI.

Joelle Joyce had a double and two singles for Rockland and knocked in a run.

At Woodland, freshman Molly White hit a leadoff home run to ignite a four-run fifth inning that clinched the Dragons’ victory.

Cali Anthony (RBI) and Shelby Bassett (2 RBIs) hit back-to-back doubles in the big inning. Anthony finished with two doubles, two singles and three RBIs, while White added a three-run triple in the third and a single.

Flaherty and Courtney Cochran posted two singles each behind Bassett, who struck out 14 and walked seven.

Whitney Norton paced Jonesport-Beals with three singles and two RBIs. Sarah Miliken doubled and singled with an RBI.

At East Sullivan, Morgan Traxler belted a two-run home run and added a two-run single to lead Sumner’s 23-run, 15-hit barrage.

Kayla Higgins and Angela Leach each had a pair of RBI singles while Julia Johnson had two singles and an RBI for the Tigers.

Anika Powers and Audra Eaton had two singles and an RBI apiece for the Mariners and Abby Grindle two singles.

Emily Gould tripled in a run while Brittany Kelly plated another with a double for Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

At Bucksport, Mount Desert Island erased a 10-5 deficit with seven runs in the seventh inning to rally and defeat Bucksport.

Emma Damon hit two singles and drove in a run while Chelsea Bother had two singles for the Trojans.

Emily Lenor hit two doubles with three RBIs while Meagan Harriman posted two singles for Bucksport.
