Ashand’s Flint fires no-hitter Hornets cruise to 10th victory

MARS HILL – Whitney Flint fired a five-inning no-hitter allowed a first-inning walk while striking out 12 as Ashland remained undefeated with a 14-0 high school softball victory over Central Aroostook Thursday.

Flint hit three singles and knocked in three runs for the Hornets. Mindy Chasse had two singles and two RBIs and Rylee Graham singled and drove in two runs. Taylor Baker singled twice.

Washburn 20, Fort Kent 8

At Washburn, Kelsee McLaughlin hit three singles, a double and drove in three runs to help lift Washburn over Fort Kent.

Rachel Palmer doubled and singled with a run driven in for Washburn. Rebecca Campbell added two singles and an RBI.

Taylor Boucher hit a three-run home run in the first inning and added an RBI double to pace Fort Kent. Shannon Martin tripled and singled and Liz Morneault hit two singles.

Fort Fairfield 11, Van Buren 9

At Van Buren, Courtney Churchill tripled, doubled and scored three runs as the Tigers outlasted the Crusaders.

Winning pitcher Kelsie York added two singles and two RBIs for Fort Fairfield.

Kristen Vaillancourt led Van Buren with two singles, three runs scored and an RBI.

Woodland 9, Narraguagus 5

At Woodland, Ashley Laking had three singles and winning pitcher Shelby Bassett doubled and singled to lead the Dragons past Narraguagus of Harrington.

Julia Nicholas and Courtney Cochran each added two singles for Woodland, with Nicholas also contributing an RBI.

Nicki Endre doubled twice for Narraguagus.

Stearns 16, Schenck 2

At Millinocket, Angela Levesque allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out seven to lead Stearns past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Paige Curtis hit three singles and drove in four runs to pace Stearns. Jenessa Willey hit a two-run double in the fifth inning and Angela Levesque doubled and singled with an RBI.

Tricia Hobbs hit an RBI single in the first inning for Schenck.

At Mars Hill, Jeremy Tarr and Lucas Belanger each hit a double, two singles and drove in a run to lift Ashland over Central Aroostook.

Carl Nemer singled twice for the Hornets

Logan McCarthy hit three singles to pace the Panthers and Will Delong added a two-run single.

At Woodland, Ben Sears went 5-for-5 at the plate with four singles, a double and three runs scored to lead the Dragons to the six-inning win.

Ed Flaherty added three doubles and three RBIs, while Jason McLellan and Kyle Pike each had three singles and two RBIs and Aaron St. Pierre chipped in with a two-run single.

Corey Smith and Kameron Jordan each had an RBI single for Narraguagus of Harrington.
