Pandas rally by Patriots BC’s French has no-hitter vs. Lee

LEE – John Chase’s run-scoring single followed Ryan Beers’ two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday to lift Lee Academy to an 8-7 high school baseball victory over Bangor Christian.

The Pandas scored four times in the seventh to erase a 7-4 deficit. A.J. Harris singled home the inning’s first run.

Beers rapped two doubles and knocked in three runs. Chase had two singles and two RBIs and Dean MacDonald doubled. Harris went the distance, striking out 10.

Jon Johnson’s triple and Jared Theriault’s RBI single paced Bangor Christian.

At Hampden, Patrick Stephens laced a two-run single while Shawn Smith scattered six hits in a complete-game effort as Hampden defeated Skowhegan.

The Indians came in ranked atop the Heal Point standings.

Smith struck out nine while Ryan Lindemann singled twice and scored two runs for the Broncos.

Cody Vigue drove in a run with a single while Devin Sylvain doubled for Skowhegan.

At East Millinocket, Collin Ciomei’s two-run single keyed a four-run fifth inning as Deer Isle-Stonington broke open a close game.

Ciomei also doubled and finished with three RBIs as did Jon Lymburner, who doubled and singled. Evan Rollins had two singles for the Mariners.

Dan Faloon doubled and singled twice for Schenck and had an RBI and Joe Ruitto singled twice.

At Bar Harbor, Justin Gilmartin laced a two-run homer and a two-run double as Mount Desert Island rolled.

Calvin Tweedie knocked a two-run homer, Brett Mitchell hit a solo homer and Josh Delaittre stroked three singles for the Trojans.

Eric Fernald hit a solo homer for Hermon.

At Pittsfield, the Mustangs scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Cody Raven pitched three no-hit innings and struck out six and also stroked a double and three singles with two RBIs for Mount View of Thorndike. Ethan Jean tripled and doubled with four RBIs, while Derek Keller and Josh St. Clair posted three singles each.

Nick Miller hit a two-run single in the fifth for Maine Central Institute.

Aaron Cyr singled for the Howlers.

At Dexter, Mike Lockhart’s go-ahead, two-run single highlighted a seven-run sixth inning that carried the Tigers to victory over the Patriots.

Winning pitcher C.J. Giles had two singles, including an RBI hit in the big inning. He scattered four hits with nine strikeouts. A.J. McGowan added a run-scoring double for Dexter.

Kyle Gero collected three singles to pace Penquis of Milo.

At Lee, Jillian French pitched a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts to power Bangor Christian by Lee Academy.

Christin Pelletier tallied two doubles and two RBIs while Mariah Bach added two singles for the Patriots, who earned their second victory over the Pandas this season.

At Orono, Sara Pavento pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead Orono past Searsport.

Chloe Paul and Jill Tuell each drove in two runs for Orono. Sarah Thibeault and Vanessa Leture each hit two singles.

Jana Mezger hit a single for Searsport.

At Bar Harbor, senior Ashley Kelley returned to the circle and spun a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as Hermon prevailed in five innings.

Kelley was pitching her first game of the spring after missing the first 12 with a knee injury suffered during basketball season.

Marissa Kelley, Ashley’s sister, singled twice and doubled with five RBIs while Ally Wharton had three singles and Jamie Beers a triple and a single for the Hawks.

Ariel York had two singles for Mount Desert Island.

Paige Curtis singled twice for Stearns and Mikaela Rosebush singled.

At Dexter, Brittnee Genthner had three triples, a single and two RBIs as Penquis of Milo earned its 10th win.

Erica Lyford added two singles and a triple for the Patriots, while Holly Smith doubled and singled and Christina McKenzie singled twice.

Lyford also earned the pitching win, scattering four hits while striking out 10 and walking four.

Dexter pitcher Michelle Chapman struck out nine and walked three, and also contributed two singles and an RBI.

Kristin Massessa singled for Mount View of Thorndike.
