Houlton trips up Stearns Guiod, Eastman spearhead Shiretowners’ victory

HOULTON – Brittany Guiod belted a solo home run to key a three-run second inning to lead the Houlton softball team to a 7-6 high school victory over Stearns Monday.

Lainey Herring had a triple and two singles with two RBIs for the Shiretowners. Nikki Eastman recorded 12 strikeouts.

Stearns’ Katie Mill doubled while Angela Levesque singled, scored two runs and struck out nine Houlton batters.

Ashland 24, Van Buren 1

At Van Buren, Andrea Mayo had a two-run homer and three singles and Whitney Flint drove in four runs with three doubles as Ashland improved to 14-0.

Taylor Baker knocked in three runs with three singles.

Flint pitched four shutout innings to pick up the win, striking out six and walking one. She allowed one hit.

Lindsay LaJoie singled for Van Buren’s only hit.

At Fort Kent, Liz Morneault drove in four runs with a double and a single as Fort Kent triumphed in six innings.

Taylor Boucher had a double and a single (3 RBIs) and Krystal Cyr a three-run double for the Warriors.

Chelsea Paradis stroked a two-run double for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

At Limestone, Kellie Peers hit two triples and a single while scoring two runs to lead Limestone Community School/Maine School for Science and Mathematics to victory over Madawaska.

Melanie Allen doubled and singled with three RBIs for Limestone and Stacy Bernier hit a solo homer in the fourth inning. Myley Denslow had a triple, single and two RBIs and Ashlynn Kelly added two singles and two RBIs.

Sophomore righthander Jasmine Cote improved her record to 12-0.

Kallie Pelletier paced the Owls with a triple and a single and Stephanie Nadeau hit an RBI double.

Washburn sweeps East Grand

At Washburn, the Washburn Beavers swept a doubleheader from East Grand of Danforth with a 20-5 win in the first game and a 37-8 victory in the second. Both games lasted five innings.

In the first game, the Beavers took advantage of 11 walks and Kelsee McLaughlin drove in two runs with two singles. Amber Reed allowed nine hits en route to the win.

Courtney Lloyd had two singles and two RBIs for the Vikings while Chelsee Norris added two singles.

In the second game, Meghan Saucier hit three home runs – two in the same inning. She had a two-run homer in the second inning, a two-run shot in the fifth, and a grand slam in the fifth. Kelsee McLaughlin added solo homers in the second and fifth, a double, two singles, and three RBIs. Rachel Palmer singled twice. Rebecca Campbell pitched a four-hitter in the

Nikki Tuck had two singles and an RBI for East Grand.

At Augusta, Megan Cloutier hit a two-run single and Chelsea Soule added a pair of singles for the Cony Rams as they earned a pointworthy Class A victory over Bangor.

Amy Hackett had a double and single (RBI) and Erin Dean added two singles for Bangor.

Anika Powers doubled, singled and scored a run to lead the Mariners. Britnie Jones and Holly Brewer both added two singles.

At East Millinocket, Jillian French pitched a perfect game, striking out 19 of the 21 batters she faced as Bangor Christian closed its regular season with a win.

Christin Pelletier had two singles and a double while Becca Smith and Kelly Robinson hit two singles apiece for the Patriots.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Sam Snyder had two singles and two RBIs as Foxcroft Academy defeated Dexter.

Courtney Withee singled three times and Megan Crocker hit two singles for the Ponies.

Raven Patterson, Sam Conway, Becky Johnson and Amy Conway all singled for Dexter.

At Van Buren, Lucas Belanger laced a three-run homer and tripled and singled as Ashland rolled past Van Buren.

Jeremy Tarr and Jay Paradis had two singles apiece for the Hornets.

Alex Martin doubled and singled for Van Buren.

At Limestone, Tim McDermott hit a double and two singles and drove in a run to help lift Madawaska over Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Jonathan Lee had a triple and two singles for the Owls. Nathan Beaulieu had two singles and two RBIs and Ethan Welch doubled and singled.

Chris Parent and Matt Beaulieu hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning for Limestone. Parent added a triple and Ty Tracy hit an RBI single.

Washburn sweeps East Grand

At Washburn, Sebastian Viola singled, stole a base and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning as Washburn tripped East Grand of Danforth 10-9 in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Beavers won the opener 8-6.

In the second game, Viola added an RBI double while Ethan Doody singled twice and tripled (3 RBIs) for the Beavers.

Travis Conley had three singles and an RBI and Justin Howe two singles.

Matt Steeves and Jesse Nichols had an RBI single apiece for East Grand.

In the first game, Conley doubled and singled to knock in two runs while Tyler Farley had an RBI single for Washburn.

David Cropley singled twice and doubled to knock in three runs for East Grand. Steeves had three singles (RBI) and Aaron Henn two singles and an RBI.

At Houlton, Corey Barnett hit a single and a fourth-inning three-run home run to lift Stearns of Millinocket over Houlton.

Garen Manzo had two singles and two RBIs for the Minutemen and Jared Manzo singled twice.

Justin Pelkey and Jared Manzo combined to strikeout 16.

Houlton’s Ryan Hill hit a two-run triple and Jordan Bragan singled and scored a run.

At St. Agatha, Joe Soucy tripled and drove in two runs to lead the Warriors to victory.

Jared Soucy chipped in with a triple, single and RBI for the winners and Jesse Guimond added an RBI double.

Curtis Picard hit an RBI triple for the Pioneers.

At Morton Field in Augusta, Ryan Miroty gave up just one run on two hits while striking out six as Cony defeated Bangor.

Mike Poulin hit a solo homer in the third inning while Jake LaChance and Luke Dunklee stroked RBI singles in the fourth for the Rams.

Ryan LaRochelle drove in a run with an RBI groundout while Kyle Vanidestine and Ian Edwards both singled for Bangor.
