Tenan, Knights trip Dragons

HARRINGTON – Jessica Tenan tripled home the tying run with two outs and scored on Sam Baker’s infield single as Narraguagus upended Woodland 5-4 in a rain-shortened, five-inning high school softball game Tuesday.

The Dragons tied the game in the top of the sixth and had the bases loaded with nobody out when thunder and lightning struck and the teams had to revert to the last completed inning.

Tenan had a single to go with her triple and Andrea Perry had a run-scoring single for the Knights. Kim Greene pitched a three-hitter to pick up the win.

Shelby Bassett had an RBI single for the Dragons.

Sumner 15, Ellsworth 3

At Ellsworth, Tashia Daley’s two-run triple and Ashley Pennartz’s run-scoring triple keyed a six-run second inning that powered Sumner of East Sullivan to its triumph.

Daley struck out four and walked three.

Kayla Higgins had a run-scoring triple and two singles and Morgan Traxler had a solo homer and double for Sumner, which avenged a 4-0 setback in the second game of the season.

Brenn Alexander chipped in with three singles and Lona Sargent singled twice and knocked in two runs.

Tasha Manning doubled and singled for Ellsworth and Jen Richter singled twice. Each drove in a run.

At Milo, Erica Lyford pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts to power Penquis by Searsport.

Holly Smith had two singles and an RBI while Shelby Weston hit an RBI single for Penquis.

At Leavitt, Brittany Luetjen smacked a grand slam in the first inning to spark Hampden Academy by Leavitt.

Jill Carlisle tallied three singles and an RBI for Hampden. Michelle Wells hit a double and scored three runs while Morgan Doyon hit an RBI single for the Broncos.

Lacey Littlefield pitched six innings with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.

Kate Dyer hit two singles while Robyn Nelson had a double for Leavitt.

At Readfield, Tessa Dodge drove in two runs on a home run and a triple to lead Maranacook by Medomak Valley of Waldoboro.

Samantha Mitchell hit a double and a single for Medomak Valley.

Sarah Maxwell had 14 strikeouts for the Panthers.

At South China, Sam Morse (11-5) struck out 12 batters, walked three and allowed one hit while leading the Erskine Academy Eagles over Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Ashley Richardson hit a two-run single in the third to highlight a three-run inning.

Brittney Glencross hit an RBI double for the Huskies.

At Auburn, Leah Jackson tripled and singled with an RBI as Brewer secured the No. 1 ranking in Eastern Maine Class A with its 15th win of the spring.

Allie Defillip added two singles and an RBI while Dominique Defillip had two bunt singles and two runs scored.

Emily Grund had three singles and Becca Witten two singles for Edward Little.

At Harrington, Ed Flaherty’s two-run home run in the seventh was the difference in the game as the Dragons edged the Narraguagus Knights.

Kyle Pike hit a three-run homer in the first, singled twice, and drove in five runs.

Corey Smith had a double, two singles and three RBIs for the Knights. Blake Chase had a double and a single while Josh Beal singled twice.

At Milo, Bob Wilson hit two singles and drove in two runs to help lead the visiting Searsport Vikings past Penquis in a rain-shortened game.

Dustin Brasswood had a two-run double and Nate Adams added an RBI single for the Vikings.

Kyle Gero had a double and single for the Patriots and Justin McLaughlin added two singles.

At Turner, Shawn Smith and Nolan Turner combined to drive in 10 runs as Hampden Academy triumphed.

Smith knocked in six runs with a grand slam and two doubles and Turner delivered four more with a double and two singles.

Cody Miller doubled and singled and the Broncos received two singles apiece from Ryan Lindemann and Ryan McCluskey.

Doug Nash had a double and two singles for Leavitt and Gard Castonguay singled twice.

At Bangor, Nick Smith hit a three-run triple in the sixth inning to propel John Bapst by Central of Corinth.

Jon Gagnon, Casey Hull and Charlie Merritt each hit two singles for the Crusaders.

Ben Merrill doubled and singled while Jon Daniel had an RBI single for Central.
