DOVER-FOXCROFT – Democrat Jayson Allain of Dover-Foxcroft is running for the state House of Representatives in District 26.
Allain, 48, is a Maine native, a small-business owner and a registered Maine guide. A sports enthusiast, he is a life member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.
District 26 comprises Atkinson, Dover-Foxcroft, Medford, Milo, Sangerville, Lake View Plantation and Orneville Township.
Allain is an officer in the Army National Guard and a 27-year veteran, having served on active duty with both the U.S. Air Force and the Army.
He is a graduate of the Army Officer Candidate School, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School and the National Defense University. He is a past recipient of the American Legion award for outstanding military leadership.
He serves as the Computer Network Defense team leader for the Maine Army National Guard.
Allain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management and a master’s degree in business administration. In addition to his service in the military, he has done extensive work in the private sector, including managing a worldwide technology network for the Timberland Co.
Allain said his priorities in the Legislature would be to reduce burdensome property taxes, encourage the development of renewable energy resources, maintain access to land and water for sportsmen and sportswomen, and aggressively market the natural resources and recreational opportunities of central Maine.
“I believe that government should only do what we as individuals cannot do on our own,” he said. “I believe strongly in Maine’s great work ethic and in our way of life and I will do everything I can to promote jobs and economic development that preserve our values.”
Allain and his wife, Laurel, have three children. Their youngest son attends Foxcroft Academy. The Allains operate a small technology and outdoor recreation business in Dover-Foxcroft.
