FRANKFORT – R. Kenneth Lindell will get another shot at the State House seat he lost two years ago.
Lindell won the Republican primary for House District 41 on Tuesday night with 41 percent of the vote, based on unofficial returns.
House District 41 includes the Hancock County towns of Orland and Verona Island and the Waldo County towns of Frankfort, Prospect, Stockton Springs and Searsport.
Lindell received 229 votes, defeating opponents Warren D. Southworth of Searsport, who received 182 votes, and Maxwell G. Coolidge of Orland, who got 143.
Southworth actually out-polled Lindell in the four Waldo County towns, winning big in his hometown of Searsport. But Southworth got just one vote on the eastern side of the Penobscot River, while Lindell was strong in both Hancock County towns. Lindell won by a small margin in Verona Island and tied Coolidge in his hometown of Orland where they both received 44 votes.
Lindell will face Democrat Veronica Magnan of Sandy Point in the general election in November. A former educator, Magnan ran unopposed in the primary. The two will vie to fill the House seat left vacant by Lance Weddell, who did not seek re-election.
