Wilbur, Maddocks lead Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – Dillon Wilbur hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning to tie it at 13-13 and Ryan Maddocks brought Wilbur home with a sacrifice fly to give No. 3 Ellsworth the 14-13 Eastern Maine Class B baseball quarterfinal win over No. 6 Waterville Thursday.

Brad Folmer hit a single and a three-run triple in the fourth inning for Ellsworth. Seth Cote added a three-run double in the fourth inning. Maddocks hit three singles and Garrett Kaspala had two singles and two runs scored.

Junior Adam Kaspala pitched 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief allowing no runs and no walks while striking out two.

Curt Chaput hit two singles and a three-run home run to lead Waterville. Tim Locke doubled and singled with three RBIs and Eli Fitzgerald added three singles and an RBI. Kyle Bishop drove in two runs on two singles.

At Winkin Complex in Bangor, Aaron Healey improved his pitching record to 8-1 with five solid innings of work and contributed to his own cause with two singles, a double, and six RBIs to lead John Bapst past the Golden Bucks.

Kyle Gallant had three singles and three RBIs for the Crusaders. Casey Hull had a double, a single, and two RBIs. Charlie Merritt, Jon Gagnon and Andrew Casey each had two singles.

Tyler French had two singles and two RBIs while Tim Nason added an RBI single for Bucksport.

At Blue Hill, Ebb Walton doubled, singled and drove in two runs to help lead No. 1 George Stevens Academy to victory over No. 9 Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Nick Saunders hit an RBI double in the fourth inning for the Eagles.

Aaron Saucier hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to pace the Howlers. Joe Gilley and Anthony Batchelder each singled twice.

At Orono, Ben Stout hit a solo homer in the second, doubled, and singled to pace the No. 4 Red Riots past No, 5 Dexter.

Brandon Levasseur had two singles and two RBIs for the Riots. John Doughty had two singles and an RBI and Kirk Francis singled twice.

Rick Stewart had two singles and an RBI for the Tigers. C.J. Giles singled twice and Mike Gelzinis added a two-run triple.

At Calais, Roman Hall hit a fourth-inning grand slam to help lift No. 3 Calais over No. 11 Houlton.

Jordan Leeman had two singles, an RBI and three stolen bases to lead Calais. Dylan Ramsdell and Ben Pagels each had three singles and an RBI.

Ryan Hill singled twice and drove in a run for Houlton. Porter Gervais hit an RBI double in the fifth inning and Hunter Caron added and single and two RBIs.

Bob Wilson hit a two-run single in the three-run second inning while Adams added a double for the Vikings.

John Hall posted two singles and an RBI for the Raiders.

At Woodland, Eben Powers knocked in two runs with two doubles and a single to help No. 11 Deer Isle-Stonington knock off No. 3 Woodland.

Collin Ciomei scattered six hits and struck out six, and also posted two singles with two RBIs. Evan Rollins doubled and singled with an RBI for the Mariners.

Scott Boomer singled twice to pace the Dragons. Aaron St. Pierre added an RBI single.

At Augusta, back-to-back RBI doubles by Amy Jones and Megan Cloutier in the sixth inning pushed No. 3 Cony past No. 6 Hampden Academy.

Cony’s Cloutier scored the third run on a throwing error.

Jasmine Trott and Mika Wilson combined for the shutout.

Kaitlyn Haase hit a double to lead Hampden. Ashley Gott, Kate Plowman and Jill Carlisle singled. Lacey Littlefield recorded nine strikeouts.

At Bangor, Kacy Harvey hit a two-run single in the fourth inning and a third run scored on a throwing error to lead No. 4 John Bapst to victory over No. 5 Ellsworth.

John Bapst’s Hillary Laferriere drove in the first run in the fourth inning on a single. Whitney Sinclair and Ellen Umphrey each singled and scored.

Anna Seavy hit a single in the fifth inning for Ellsworth to score Lauren Peer, but the potential tying run in Lily Cooper was thrown out at the plate.

Peer doubled for the Eagles and Cooper hit a bunt single and stole a base. Ashley Smith singled.

At Hermon, Miranda Conary led off the sixth inning with a single and scored the winning run on a Kayla Santheson double to give No. 8 Medomak Valley of Waldoboro the upset win over top-seeded Hermon.

Santheson added a single and scored a run on a Tessa Dodge sacrifice fly for the Panthers. Rachel Keefe tripled and Conary added another single.

Ashley Kelley hit a two-run double in the first inning for Hermon and Jaimie Beers hit two singles.

At Winslow, Katie Caron hit a triple and three singles while driving in three runs to lift No. 3 Winslow over No. 6 Old Town.

Liz Cheesman had two singles and four RBIs for Winslow and Kaite Bernard singled twice.

Ashley Goodwin tripled and singled with two RBIs for Old Town. Morgan Cossar hit three singles and Whitney Leland had two singles and an RBI.

At East Sullivan, Brenn Alexander scored the winning run from third on an infield error in the bottom of the seventh inning as No. 1 Sumner of East Sullivan survived a scare from No. 8 Penquis of Milo.

Shelby Fowles singled in the first inning and came around to score to give Penquis a 1-0 lead.

Sumner scored twice in the fifth, as Morgan Traxler tripled and scored on a single by Angela Leach to highlight the rally.

Penquis then tied the game in the sixth.

Tashia Daley scattered four hits and struck out 10 batters to earn the pitching win.

Erica Lyford pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts for Penquis.

Traxler finished with a triple and a single, while Leach singled twice.

Christin McKenzie singled twice for Penquis.

Sara Pavento, Jill Tuell and Sonya Forst each hit a single for Orono.

Shelby Basset hit two singles and a three-run double while striking out 12 to earn the win.

Kim Geary had two singles while Lauren McGary hit a double for Southern Aroostook.

Ashley Geel tallied a home run and a double with two RBIs and Aley Watts had a home run and a single with two RBIs. Liz Hall posted two singles and two RBIs while Jessica Keating added two singles and an RBI for the Buccaneers.

Amanda Costa and Jessica Hayden each hit a single for Madison.
