Boyfriend charged in assault

HOULTON – A Houlton woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and her boyfriend was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault after an incident at her home on Tuesday evening.

Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin said Wednesday that police went to the woman’s Aurora Circle residence after she called police to say that her boyfriend, Andrew Brown, 31, had choked and beaten her.

When police arrived they learned Brown had fled the scene.

The victim suffered injuries to her throat and neck and was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for treatment, according to Asselin.

She has since been released.

Brown eventually was located at a home on Kelleran Street. He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail and will answer to the domestic violence assault charge on Aug. 5.

Sgt. Eric Crouse and Cpl. Dana Duff are investigating the incident.
