Machias Savings Bank has hired Katy Wood as a residential mortgage officer at the bank’s Blue Hill office. Wood comes to Machias Savings Bank from Downeast Mortgage in Blue Hill. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the University of New Hampshire and has 14 years of real estate and lending experience. She is also a graduate of the Certified Mortgage Planner Institute. Wood is an active member of both the Acadia Council and Hancock Washington Board of Realtors. Wood resides in Blue Hill with her daughter, Emily.
The Maine Business School in Orono named Auburn media executive Dick Gleason the recipient of its 2008 Achievement in Business Award. Gleason, a University of Maine alumnus and member of the Maine Business School Advisory Board for the last three years, is president and owner of Gleason Media Services in Auburn.
Laurie Bouchard, who has more than 25 years of experience in business and human resources, has formed LBouchard & Associates LLC. The aim of the venture is to help companies and organizations with 50 or more employees with human resources issues. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has hired Joe Hackett as vice president of business banking at its Bar Harbor office. He has more than 15 years of banking experience, as a branch manager and commercial lender, with several banks around the state. Hackett will work with business owners and managers throughout Mount Desert Island. A Maine native, he is a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, the New England School of Banking at Williams College and the National Commercial Lenders School. Certified public accountant Edward C. LaBrecque has been named chairman of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Committee on Elder Planning and Support Services.
