Tour du Lac turns into a Cake-walk Neadeau cruises to women’s title

BUCKSPORT – Judson Cake of Bar Harbor and Amy Neadeau of Belchertown, Mass., took home first-place finishes at the Tour du Lac 10-mile road race Saturday morning.

The 30-year-old Cake, who has torn up the local road racing circuit this spring, toured the challenging 10-mile course in 51 minutes, 46 seconds.

Evan Graves of Presque Isle took second place in 53:34, Erik Neadeau of Belchertown, Mass., was third in 54:52, 2007 champ Erik McCarthy of Greene fourth in 55:09 and Joe Capehart of Bangor fifth in 58:05.

The race drew 82 finishers.

Amy Neadeau dominated the women’s field, besting her nearest competitor by almost 12 minutes, clocking a 1:00:46. Second was Allison Dorko of Bar Harbor in 1:12:09.

Rounding out the top five were Samantha Matoush of Bangor (1:12:25), Julie Brown of Millinocket (1:14:12) and Michele Gagnon of Ellsworth (1:16:36).

Three runners joined the “100-mile club” by finishing their 10th Tour du Lac. Ellsworth High School running coach Andy Beardsley of Surry took sixth, Kevin Dow of Eddington 28th and Nichi Farnham of Bangor 42nd.

Other top-10 overall finishers included Alfred Hanscom of Limestone, Jeff Ashby of Fort Fairfield and James Pellerano of Surry.
