Hermon collects D3 title Holbrook, Old Town, Coastal, Bucksport post wins

GLENBURN – Katie Kivler drove in Emily Stocker on a fielder’s choice to spark a five-run sixth inning to lead Hermon past Bangor 8-3 en route to the District 3 title in Little League softball all-star action for ages 11-12 Tuesday.

Shannon Graves hit two singles and knocked in two runs for Hermon. Gabby Bryant and Emily Maynard doubled. Kristen Wilcox recorded 11 strikeouts.

Carly Cosgrove singled and drove in a run to lead Bangor and Paige Morrill added a single.

Holbrook 9, Bangor West 4

At Brewer, Joseph Archambault hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to lead Holbrook to victory over Bangor West.

Archambault also doubled and singled for Holbrook. Zach Gulesian singled twice and winning pitcher David Peters allowed only three hits in 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven and walking two.

Mike Dow hit a two-run single to lead Bangor West. Jordan Tracy doubled and Alec Coleman-Pray singled and knocked in a run.

At Bucksport, Payton Lawford’s two-run triple keyed a five-run rally in the fifth inning as Bucksport Two topped Ellsworth Two in a game called after five innings due to darkness.

Lawford also singled for the winners. Cody Larson had two singles and three RBIs, Colin Bechtel had two singles and an RBI and Jacob Amenkowicz hit a two-run double.

Tim Kurtz singled twice and drove in three runs for Ellsworth Two and Caleb Payson had an RBI double.

At Franklin, Garrison Looke tripled and doubled twice and Joe Pal hit a pair of doubles as Coastal of Blue Hill beat Sunrise in a game called after four innings due to the 10-run rule.

Pal and Looke combined on a four-hitter.

William Ricker tripled and singled for the winners with Noah Davis and Ethan Shepard each contributing a pair of singles.

Kiwi Barnes doubled for Sunrise.

Old Town 8, Orrington 0

At Orrington, righthander Adam Richardson allowed only two hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings and struck out 11 to help Old Town beat Orrington.

Richardson aided his own cause with an RBI single in Old Town’s six-run second inning and later doubled in the fifth. Pat Quimby and Dakota Leathers each chipped in with run-producing singles in the second. Garvey Melmed contributed a triple.

Charlie Hanscom and Jacob Moore both singled for Orrington.
