Sea Dogs place three on All-Star roster

PORTLAND – Three Portland Sea Dogs have been selected to participate in the 2008 Eastern League All-Star Game, scheduled for July 16 at Manchester, N.H.

Outfielders Bubba Bell and Jeff Corsaletti and pitcher Michael Bowden will represent the Sea Dogs in the midsummer classic.

The Northern Division and Southern Division all-star teams were selected through fan balloting along with selections from media personnel, club field personnel and Eastern League administrators. Each EL team has at least three players, including at least one pitcher and one position player.

Bell is batting .300 with a team-high 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 66 games. Last season he was the MVP of the California League/Carolina League All-Star game after going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Bowden is 7-4 in 17 starts for the Sea Dogs, and ranks second in the EL with 89 strikeouts and third with a 2.48 ERA. Corsaletti, who will be playing in his second straight EL all-star game, is batting .298 in 64 games and ranks third in the league with 51 runs scored.
