Ashey homer propels Bangor East

BANGOR – Nick Ashey hit a three-run home run and Brendan Moore and Nick Leach added back-to-back doubles during a five-run first-inning rally Monday that propelled Bangor East to a 13-2 victory over Holbrook in a District 3 Little League Baseball ages 11-12 elimination game at Taylor Field.

Moore finished with a double and a single, while winning pitcher Justin Courtney and Rye Powell each singled twice. Leach and Jim Deane each doubled.

Alec Wortman singled twice for Holbrook.

Calais 12, Acadian One 11

At Calais on Saturday, Isaac Collins’ run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth, following Keegan Newman’s game-tying two-run double, rallied Calais past Acadian 1 in an elimination game.

Kyle Johnson had four singles for the winners and William Geiro tripled, doubled and singled. Daniel McPhee singled twice.

Tommy Mayo doubled for Acadian 1 with Seth Young and Simon Hurlburt adding a single apiece.

At Bangor, Eric Hoogterp hit two triples and a single to help push Hermon past Old Town.

Tyler Beaton doubled twice for Hermon and Corbin Sherman hit two singles and a triple.

Old Town’s Brad Westura tripled and Drew Coulombe added a double.

District 1, 10-11

Bucksport 17, Ellsworth 2

At Bucksport, Tucker Boynton hit an RBI single and a second-inning grand slam to help lead Bucksport past Ellsworth to win the championship.

Cody Augherton, Zach Chapman and Ryan Soper combined for two runs on one hit, three walks and 11 strikeouts through four innings for Bucksport.

Bucksport’s Augherton hit two singles and a double with three RBIs. Ryan Grindle had a double and two singles.

Simon French hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to lead Ellsworth and Jack Weeks scored a run.

At Ellsworth, Jacob Poors knocked a solo homer and added a run-scoring double to lead Ellsworth past Machias.

Mitch Domogala had an RBI single and Jake Maguire a double for the winners.

Ian Anderson doubled and Tyler Varney singled and hit a sacrifice fly for Machias.

At Bordick Park in Hampden, Zach Violette hit three singles and knocked in three runs to help lead Brewer to victory over Hermon.

Ian Forrest tripled and singled with an RBI for Brewer. Yuhi Sasaki had two doubles and an RBI and Nick Moore added two singles.

Aaron Jellison and Matt Blackmer doubled to pace Hermon.

At Hampden, Old Town erupted for 11 runs in the seventh inning to break open a close game.

Gabe Melmed singled three times with three RBIs to pace the winners, while Jarod Winchenbach singled twice with two RBIs. Tyler Alexander doubled and singled and Cody Archer added a single and three RBIs behind relief winner Cody Hamm.

Kent Reichel led Hampden with a single and two RBIs. Cooper Antone and Cam Libbey each singled and scored a run.

At Calais, Adam Geel and Drake Morrow combined to allow three hits and no walks while striking out four to lead Calais to the shutout win over eliminated Ellsworth.

Jeremy Beers hit two singles and an RBI double to lead Calais. Geel singled twice and Joe Mitchell added an RBI double.

Thomas Sawyer, Cote Card and Del Beckwith singled for Ellsworth.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Chase Daniels hit an RBI single and a first-inning two-run home run to lead Brewer to victory over Old Town.

Kyle McLean doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Brewer. Colby Small had three singles and two RBIs and Pat McEwen added a double, single and two RBIs.

Casey Estes and Brendan LeVasseur hit RBI singles for Old Town.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Joe Stanevicz allowed one run on one hit and struck out seven to give Bangor the win over Holbrook.

Kyle Savage hit a fifth-inning three-run double to lead Bangor. Tyler Desjardins had two doubles and two singles and Ryan LaRochelle added a double and two RBIs.

Tyler Chamberlain managed Holbrook’s lone hit with a single.

At Ellsworth, Seth Cote hit three singles, a sacrifice fly and drove in four runs to help defending champion Ellsworth capture its second straight District 1 title.

Brad Folmer chipped in with a triple and scored three runs for the winners and Mickey Manning added an RBI double. Jordan Carter and Andrew Hodge each doubled while Ben Curtis contributed a two-run single and Drew Barkhouse an RBI single.

Skyler Van der Eb notched an RBI double for Coastal and Tom Crowe added an RBI single. Nick Kane had a sacrifice fly.
