BREWER – Next Generation Children’s Theatre at 39 Center St. will debut its summer musical, “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.,” this weekend. The play features a cast of more than 20 children ages 5 to 13 acting, singing and dancing as a part of the 2008 Next Generation Summer Theatre Camp.
Those taking part in the production include Whitney Beals as the Cheshire Cat; Donna Pelkey, Mathilda; Mikayla Burridge, Alice; Clara Moore, Small Alice; Sarah Maxsimic, White Rabbit; Alex Beals, Doorknob; Joseph Audette, Dodo Bird; Teal Jackson and Donna Pelkey, Sea Creatures; Will Martin, Tweedle-Dum; Brandon Woo, Tweedle-Dee; Ruby Ramsay, Rose; Teal Jackson, Lily; Conor Kenny, Caterpillar; Molly Picone, Mad Hatter; Carli Kenny, March Hare; Donna Pelkey and Alex Beals, Unbirthday Partiers; Emma Moore, Queen of Hearts; Jack Burridge, King of Hearts; Alex Beals and Teal Jackson, Royal Guardsmen.
The fast-paced stage adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” features updated dialogue and new arrangements of such classic Disney songs as “I’m Late,” “The Un-birthday Song” and “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.”
In the musical, Alice encounters madcap adventures in Wonderland as she chases the White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with the Tweedles, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 18-19, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20.
Tickets are $5, $3 for students and may be purchased in advance at Between Friends or at the door.
